Tractor Boys to bounce back against Terriers

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 25th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Ipswich Town will be looking to bounce back from their midweek 1-3 defeat away at Cardiff City this afternoon when they take on Huddersfield Town at Portman Road.

Prior to Tuesday night’s defeat Mick McCarthy’s boys had put together an eight match unbeaten run which included wins over Millwall, Brighton, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United, and today’s visitors represent a squad that are very similar to the aforementioned four clubs.

Ipswich’s overall home record stands at  4-1-1  9/3 with their one defeat on home turf so far being a derby loss to local rivals Norwich City, but The Tractor Boys have kept three clean sheets in their subsequent four home matches.

Forwards Murphy and McGoldrick look the most likely anytime goalscorers for the hosts here today.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has done well in his short time as boss of The Terriers and has guided his team away from the bottom reaches of the Championship thanks to recent wins over Millwall (at home), a 3-1 win at Wolves (away) and Blackpool (home) along with holding Blackburn Rovers and Brighton to draws.

However, despite holding a reasonable away record of  2-1-3  8/12, Huddersfield face a big test this afternoon away at an Ipswich outfit who have lost just once at Portman Road in the Championship and it’ll be an interesting gauge to see where Powell’s men are at right now.

Ipswich will have been disappointed to have come away from Cardiff empty-handed on Tuesday night and I’m expecting them therefore to be fired up for this one with home advantage behind them. Given Huddersfield’s improved form though, I’d recommend backing Ipswich giving the quarter ball so if it ends up a draw, you only lose half your stake. Ipswich could edge this perhaps 2-1.
