Leicester v QPR Betting Tip 1 – 19 April 2014

Championship Tips

Leicester City have already achieved promotion after a dominating campaign in this season’s Championship. After losing out in the last minute of the play off’s last season, Nigel Pearson’s men have responded in the best possible fashion by being the best side in the league by some distance. Their next objective is to win the title and go up as Champions, and with a win this weekend, they would go a huge way to ensuring that, leaving them needing just one point from their next three. They return to the King Power Stadium after drawing with Reading on Monday night and with the best home record in the league, they will be confident of adding a further scalp to their complete domination. Pearson and his board will already be planning for life in the top league but he’ll want to go up in style and will be demanding his players complete the job.

QPR were the big pre season favourites after being relegated from the Premier League, following a two season stay. They have been up with the pace for much of the season but they have not had the same consistency and class of either Leicester or Burnley. Harry Redknapp will be readying his troops for a push at the play-offs and trying to finish the season off with every bit of momentum they can muster to give them as good a shot at returning to the top flight at the first time of asking. They stopped the rot of three games without a win by getting the better of a misfiring Nottingham Forest last time out. Not only was it a well received three points, the fact they scored five goals in the process would have also been pleasing.

After Leicester had secured promotion, they suffered their first home defeat in 14 matches in their very next game, against Brighton. Pearson was furious at how poor his team was that night and promised a reaction in their closing five games. They were much more competitive against Reading and it bodes well ahead of this clash with Rangers.

There is a plethora of experience within the QPR squad but there isn’t too many who will have sampled the drama and excitement of the play-offs. Year on year they continue to throw up surprises and Redknapp will be hoping that his stars can adjust to that challenge. He will be hoping to finish third and the opportunity to play against the side finishing sixth, but in order to do that they’ll have to get a result here.

Many predicted these two sides to have good seasons but there’s no doubt QPR will be disappointed that they haven’t been promoted automatically. Leicester have shown time and time again this season that they are the best side in the league and I fancy them to so again this weekend and all but clinch the Championship.
