MILLWALL v ROTHERHAM – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 23 August 2014

Lions to roar at New Den

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 23rd August 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Unbeaten Millwall will be looking to extend their good form into this afternoon’s clash against Rotherham United when they meet at the New Den on Saturday afternoon.

Ian Holloway’s side have started well in this new season with Championship wins over Leeds United 2-0 at home in their first match of the season and a 1-0 win away at Craven Cottage over Fulham, along with taking a point away at Sheffield Wednesday in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

The Lions are also into the hat for the second round of the Capital One Cup following their 1-0 win over League Two side Wycombe Wanderers again at home, so today’s visit of Rotherham will be looked upon as another opportunity of a further three points.

Millwall are unbeaten in the Championship in their last eleven matches, a record which extends into the back-end of last season but it shows Holloway’s ability to manage at this level.

Visitors Rotherham United have made a mixed start to their new campaign with defeats at Derby County 0-1 on the opening day and Tuesday night’s loss at home to Watford 0-2, but sandwiched in between were wins over Wolves 1-0 at their New York Stadium and a first round League Cup win over League Two side Fleetwood Town, although The Millers needed extra time to get the job done.

Rotherham’s season will almost certainly hinge on their form at their New York Stadium and they registered a solid home record in their promotion season from League One last season as they’d lost on just three occasions. Away from home, they tied with Wolves (14 wins) for having the most away wins in the division, but a step up this season will pose a few problems I daresay.

Millwall have started in solid fashion this season and they’ll make themselves hard to beat on home turf, so I fancy backing The Lions and giving the quarter ball (in case it’s a draw) here, with a view to Millwall sneaking this one perhaps 1-0.

Pick: Millwall AH-0.25 @ 1.77 Pinnacle
