Forest look to break drought when Rovers visit

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 25th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Hmmm – a similar story seems to be unfolding again for Nottingham Forest this term after making another great start to the new season, they’ve been pegged back lately and find themselves sitting in 6th place after leading the Championship in the early weeks.

Even though Forest have lost just once in the Championship so far (a 1-2 loss at Cardiff City), Stuart Pearce’s side have been involved in a number of draws lately (in fact, six of their last eight have been stalemates), and they’ve given up ground on the top two as a result.

However, whilst star striker Britt Assombalonga (9 goals) stays fit and the supply line from the wingers Antonio and Burke remains intact, Forest will always have a chance of making a serious challenge via the play-offs and perhaps grab the points here tonight too on the back of a good result at Watford midweek.

Visitors Blackburn Rovers achieved what was largely expected of them on Tuesday night when they registered another three points at home with a 1-0 win over struggling Birmingham City at Ewood Park.

Blackburn have lost just once in their last six and that was a 0-2 loss away at Rotherham United which underlines that there’s still work to do for manager Gary Bowyer if his side are to emerge as play-off contenders.

Rovers have never been renowned for their results on the road and this season has started in a very familiar pattern for the Lancashire club as they head into tonight’s away match with a record of    2-1-3  6/10 but they have recorded wins at Blackpool and Fulham (who incidentally were both propping up the division at the time).

Blackburn also possess their striker and leading goalscorer Jordan Rhodes (4 goals) and Rudi Gestede (5 goals) although they haven’t been prolific on their travels thus far.

I believe Nottingham Forest will have been boosted by their point at Watford on Tuesday night and with a solid home record at the City Ground where they still remain unbeaten, I’ll back the hosts with the round ball here as I reckon they might just nick the points off Rovers today – could be a 2-1 win for Forest.
