SHEFFIELD WEDS v BRIGHTON – Pick: 1 AH0 – 14 February 2015

Owls should at least avoid defeat at Hillsborough

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 14th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Sheffield Wednesday looked as though they might have pulled off an upset at Portman Road on Tuesday night when they led hosts Ipswich Town 1-0 at the half-time break.

However, The Tractor Boys came roaring back in the second half to claim all three points in a 2-1 win but Sheffield Wednesday themselves have home advantage this afternoon when they host fourth from bottom club Brighton at Hillsborough.

With a five-match run without a win in the Championship, Stuart Gray’s side will be keen to return to winning ways in order to improve their existing home record of  3-7-5  8/13 particularly as they’ve won just once on home turf in their last five home matches.

Brighton make their way up north with a similar set of results as their hosts as they’ve registered just one league win from their last five matches overall. That win was a 3-2 home win over Ipswich Town, but defeats against Brentford, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest have plunged The Seagulls back into the relegation mix and are now level with third from bottom Millwall.

Brighton’s away record reads  3-6-6  15/19 but the south coast club have improved on their travels in recent weeks having lost just once in their last five trips (a 1-0 defeat at Blackpool), while securing wins at Fulham and Charlton Athletic and taking a point off Wolves and Cardiff City in 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively.

You definitely want the draw on your side in this one, but I fancy the hosts Sheffield Wednesday to have the edge here who might nick this one perhaps 1-0.
