YEOVIL v BOURNEMOUTH – Pick: 2 – 12 April 2014

Cherries ripe for play-offs

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 12th April 2014 – Kickoff:  1507hrs

Championship basement side Yeovil Town face a tough task of containing today’s visitors Bournemouth when the two teams meet at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon.

Yeovil are currently bottom of the league and six points adrift of Charlton Athletic and safety with just five matches remaining – so, the last thing you’d want as a Glovers fan is a visit from the in-form team of the moment in the Championship, but that is exactly what they’ll be up against this afternoon.

Looking at Yeovil’s recent results first and the Somerset outfit have won just once in their last eight Championship matches in their fight against the drop down to League One, but their solitary win at Blackpool during this period has simply not been enough and they find themselves with their backs to the wall. Recent ‘six-pointer’ defeats against Barnsley and Charlton Athletic haven’t helped either, and their overall home record reads a disappointing  4-5-11  16/25.

Onto the visitors Bournemouth then, and manager Eddie Howe is working his magic once again with his team as The Cherries have now put together a strong five match winning sequence which has lifted them from a lower half position up to within almost touching distance of the play-off pack. Indeed, Bournemouth are now in 9th place and just two points adrift of Reading who they beat in midweek in a 3-1 home win which has really put pressure on The Royals.

Momentum is a very precious commodity in sport, and with a whole team brimming with confidence, it’s very hard to stop that positive energy when in full force which is where Bournemouth are at right now with straight wins over Barnsley, Leeds United, Birmingham City, QPR and Reading.

The Cherries have also won four of their last five away from home with an overall away record of a fast improving  7-5-8  24/35, and they are up against a side who are  1-2-8  5/13 at home against top half sides.

Aside from Bournemouth remaining unbeaten in their last ten meetings against Yeovil Town, they also have a tremendous belief and confidence inspired by manager Eddie Howe and I’ll therefore back them to get the job done at Huish Park today – Bournemouth to win 2-1.

Pick:  Bournemouth straight win @ 2.10 bet365
