Scottish Championship league leaders Hibernian have another great opportunity to extend their lead at the top of this division when they take on third from bottom club Dumbarton with the home side holding a three-point lead over second placed Dundee United.
Hibernian have suffered just the one defeat all season so far throughout this campaign which was an unexpected 2-1 defeat at home to Ayr United, but generally speaking, Hibs have been pretty dominant in this division as they seek a return to the Scottish Premiership.
A reasonably strong home record of 4-2-1 15/5 has helped them to the top of the league which includes wins over Dunfermline, Morton, St Mirren and Queen of the South, while the result away from home against today’s opposition Dumbarton ended up with a 1-0 win for Hibs.
Onto Dumbarton and they sit third from bottom in the Championship but they kept themselves out of trouble for the time being at least, with last weekend’s 2-1 win away at Queen of the South. Indeed, Dumbarton have shown stronger form away from home than on home soil as they’ve collected the two of their three league wins to date on the road.
Wins at St Mirren and the aforementioned Queen of the South are included within their overall away record of 2-1-4 10/12 and you can also see that they’ve scored a few goals too on their travels as well.
But with going forward, Dumbarton have also shipped quite a few goals at the back too with only St Mirren and Ayr United conceding more goals than them away from home in the division to date.
To sum up, I reckon we’ll see some goals here this afternoon.
