England got themselves back into this three-match Test series against Australia with a victory last weekend.

It was a much more cohesive performance from the tourists, forcing this thrilling decider.

Will England be able to ride that momentum and finish the series on a high, or will the Wallabies have learned their lessons from last weekend?

Australia Preview – Wallabies look for response

Australia had a hugely positive start to this series, winning the opener 30-28.

It was a match that they really shouldn’t have won as they had been a man short.

But mistakes from England and a rousing retaliation by the Wallabies gave the hosts the victory.

But they couldn’t match up to the tourists in the second match.

A 10-match winning streak that Australia had been on at the Suncorp Stadium came to an end.

Australia lost the Second Test 17-25, having been 19-0 down at one point.

But they are still in it the Series, and still have home advantage.

In the match outright for rugby betting, the win for Australia is at a quote of 4/6* (odds recorded 04:49 GMT on July 14th, 2022 at Bet365)

Can they get themselves back into the fixture?

Our betting prediction:
England 1-5 Winning Margin
19/2

Before winning that first Test, Australia had been on a long losing streak against England.

They had lost all eight previous clashes with England since Eddie Jones had taken over as the England head coach.

So that victory in the First Test was a marked success for them.

However, looking back at the Autumn internationals there were struggles for Australia.

They had lost on tour against Scotland, England and Wales.

Australia have some terrific backs, they have the creativity and pace to open up England.

They definitely top things in that department.

The issue is going to be getting a foothold up front to unleash them as England bossed that area last weekend.

Australia Starting XV

Hodge, Wright, Paisami, Kerevi, Koroibete, Lolesio, White, Valetini, Hooper (capt), Wilson, Philip, Frost, Tupou, Porecki, Slipper.
Replacements: Fainga’a, Bell, Ala’alatoa, Leota, Samu, McDermott, Ikitau, Vunivalu.

England Preview – Further improvement to come?

England dominated the early period of the Second Test against Australia, particularly up front.

They were a yard quicker, hitting heavier and didn’t let the Wallabies settle.

It was a marked improvement in performance levels from the first Test.

When Australia did try and rally back, England’s defence, for the large part, stayed strong.

So there are positives now for England as they head into the showdown of the Ella-Mobbs Cup in Sydney.

There’s a bit of momentum and notably, some of their big players like Billy Vunipola and Jamie Geroge were dominant last weekend.

In the match outright for rugby betting, England are the 13/10 underdogs* (odds recorded 04:49 GMT on July 14th, 2022 at Bet365).

That hints at the size of the task ahead of them, winning away from home.

And it’s not as if England have produced positive consistency for a while now.

They are also missing Mario Itoje who is replaced by debutant Ollie Chessum.

England closed out this year’s disappointing Six Nations campaign with defeats against Ireland and France.

In total, they have lost four of their last five including a fixture against the Barbarians.

An England +2.5 handicap is at 17/20 in rugby betting odds* (odds recorded 04:49 GMT on July 14th, 2022 at Bet365)

England are still persisting with the partnership of Marcus Smith and Owen Farrell, which doesn’t look ideal.

Farrell’s kicking was on-point at the Suncorp so is going nowhere.

England at least showed some fight last week and in a way played to their strengths of a kicking game.

Australia vs England Betting Advice

If England can play to their strengths in Sydney then they are capable of putting the win on the board.

So the first rugby tip is the England to win the match outright at 13/10* (odds recorded 04:49 GMT on July 14th, 2022 at Bet365).

Last weekend they kicked well, using the space that Australia strangely left behind their three-quarters.

England Starting XV

Steward, Nowell, Porter, Farrell, Freeman, Smith, Care, B Vunipola, Ludlam, Lawes (capt), Hill, Chessum, Stuart, George, Genge.
Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, M Vunipola, Heyes, Isiekwe, Willis, Van Poortvliet, Joseph, Arundell.

Key Facts – Australia vs England Betting Tip

  • Australia and England both have a W1 L4 record in their last five internationals
  • Australia haven’t hosted England at the Sydney Cricket Ground since 1975
  • England have won 9 of their last 10 against Australia

England have the platform in the forwards and in their kicking game to build something.

Whether they can find that creative and running threat with their backs is a different matter.

This for the world looks like a close one. The Wallabies aren’t just going to roll over.

An England 1-5 Winning Margin is our second rugby tip at 19/4* (odds recorded 04:49 GMT on July 14th, 2022 at Bet365).
