Online-Betting Rating:

Sportingbet got their start back in 1998 and they have grown to operate across 26 countries worldwide. They initially started off with the acquisition of Paradise Poker and in 2006 they sold all of their US holdings to private investors and ditched Paradise Poker a year later and they pushed forward with their sports betting branding. Then came a big moment for them in 2012 when William Hill and GVC Holdings acquired them, with William Hill snapping up their Australian and Spanish operations.

Betting markets and odds quality 7/10

Betting markets

When you are looking across a broad range of odds on a particular market selection, then Sportingbet do hold their own ground. They aren’t usually at the top end of value, but they nestle somewhere in the middle, offering solid prices for their customers. As with most things with Sportingbet that you will notice, there is nothing done with any great flair or by going above beyond anything that kind of is expected from them. Their betting margins aren’t bad at all, but it does make a little difference compared to some bookmakers out there.

Odds Comparisons

Their football margins are very high though up over 7.5% and on average across their sportsbook they have around a 6% betting margin. That’s a little high and does take something away overall from the quality of odds. A lot about Sportingbet is very basic, which makes it ideal for beginners. There is horse racing coverage on there and the other major staples of betting. They do dip into the smaller niche markets like swimming and water polo, they also offer Specials and Politics betting.

In-play betting 8/10

live in-play betting

There is in-play betting on offer at online betting site Sportingbet. This is very simple and straightforward and actually a very good product. On some betting sites, you get a lot of graphical representation of the action going on but you don’t get that with Sportingbet apart from one picture, for example, a soccer pitch, with brief details of the current happening.

The current list of active markets can be found down the left-hand side of the menu and by clicking a select match you will open the markets for that particular event. There is a very good variety of live betting markets on a given event. Also from the live in-play section you can get to see which events are being televised live too.

There is a nice touch in the in-play betting section where you can Star (bookmaker) your favoured games which are happening so they will be listed with priority. All in all, a pretty solid product and it runs quickly because it is not heavily graphic laden.

Extras & features 7/10

Extras & features

So what kind of features are you looking at besides the in-play? Well at Sportingbet you will find a limited but decent amount of extra features. There is good stats on the website and these can be linked to through the sportsbook and live markets. It is a pretty good feature actually where you can find Livescore to keep you up to date with everything along with match results and fixtures as well.

Overall though, and we will keep getting back to this, Sportingbet is a very bare-knuckle kind of betting platform and you aren’t going to find some of the most popular features like cash out options and live streaming with them. Otherwise, you have a basic player here with Sportingbet, you get the quick links to get to markets quickly, you get clearly presented odds and a lot of markets and you get a sold betting club.

One thing that Sportingbet do boast is a loyalty program. This is the Sportingbet Elite Clubs offer which are VIP Clubs, Elite Gold and Elite Platinum. This is where they reward sports betting and casino play with big bonuses and hospitality. This is something though that you can only get invited too, so you have to ensure that your account status is set to contactable, so they can get a hold of you to invite. For example, you can earn weekly deposit bonus, exclusive promotions on horse racing and football and entries into monthly prize draws as well as same-day bank transfers.

Withdrawals must be made to the funding source where possible.

User-friendliness of website & mobile app / mobile version 8/10

User-friendliness of website & mobile app

Because the website is built off a very simple, straightforward platform there is a lot of user friendlies to enjoy about the main site and the mobile version as well. There is a nice flowing feel about it all, it’s light and fresh and the odds are listed clearly.

It can look a bit cluttered in the game markets with a lot of text going on and close to together, but that’s a small niggle because things are just clear and presentable. You can switch over to their mobile version for tablets and on your mobile or you can actually get the Sportingbet app downloaded. Pretty decent all round.

Sportingbet Customer Service & Support, Security & Reliability 7/10

Sportingbet Customer Service

There is a help section available if you like to browse through there for an answer to a question. It covers most of the basic stuff pretty well, but there isn’t a lot of comprehensive coverage in there, so you may need to contact them. If you want to get a hold of them you can call free from the UK at 0800 0280348 or fire them off an email through their online form. There is a chat option available as well to get one of their Customer Service agents online.

Our Sportingbet review rating: 9 / 10

Sportingbet review

Sportingbet have always been one of those betting platforms which is just basic and operating well. There are no bells and whistles of big features and big promotions. They just offer a very straight forward service for their customers, which is good!. It’s just basic betting done very well and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.
