Online-Betting Rating:

This is our Sportingbet review, a full look at their services and a guide to their operations.

They are a well-established betting operator and in this review, we will rank all aspects of what they have on offer.

Sportingbet got their start back in 1998 and they have grown to operate across 26 countries worldwide.

They initially started off with the acquisition of Paradise Poker and in 2006 they sold all of their US holdings to private investors.

A year following that they ditched Paradise Poker and then they pushed forward with sports betting branding and products.

In 2012 there came perhaps the biggest point in the history of Sportingbet.

That is when William Hill and GVC Holdings acquired them, with William Hill snapping up their Australian and Spanish operations and GVC holdings taking the UK interests.

Betting markets

For sports betting, Sportingbet showed up really well. There is a lot of coverage in their sportsbook.

It’s a broad spectrum from around the globe across a wide range of sports as well.

Basically, put then, this Sportingbet sportsbook review starts with a comprehensive examination of their sportsbook.

The sportsbook is navigated by a usual left-hand menu and that itself is separated into a couple of different sections.

At the top, the Sportingbet menu is separated into a ‘Highlights’ section, which as the name suggests, brings the biggest of the current action into the limelight for some quick access.

The rest of the menu then sits beneath, which isn’t automatically alphabetized either.

There is a button to click on a Menu A-Z which brings a pop-up into the middle of the screen to list all sports.

However, due to the layout and organisation of Sportingbet, it’s not likely to be a usual thing to ever have to go through that at all.

There is so much going on in the home page of Sportingbet. Right on the home page, there are quick links at the top to the big sports betting action.

There’s a dedicated live highlight section as well as upcoming events and each of those sections have their own horizontal menus as well, so navigation on the site is superb.

Right at the very top of the Sportingbet website, there is another menu. There are links everywhere to enable punters to get around the site quickly.

The very top main menu has the big sports there for quick links like football, Esports and horse racing.

So there is a stack of variety at the Sportingbet online sportsbook. That is of sports covered and of markets within each of the sports.

Along with the sports as well there is good extracurricular stuff like novelty wagers and virtuals going on.

We will cover more aspects of the sportsbook and features as we go through this Sportingbet betting review.

Sportingbet Football Review

Football betting is strong at Sportingbet. They cover a lot of competitions and markets.

First of all though in this Sportingbet sportsbook review, we have to say how well presented the sportsbook is.

Clicking on the football betting section from the menu brings up both the currently live and the big upcoming games that are going to be happening soon.

Not only is there the listing of matches, but really quick and easy access can also be taken right there without having to actually go into a match.

In the Highlights section of the football listings, for example, the match outrights and the main Over/Under line is presented as well.

Each of the columns on the presented football coupon can be changed.

So you could, for example, see all of the Draw No Bet or Handicap 0:1, or Both Teams To Score options for all of the games in the Highlights section.

So the Sportingbet sportsbook has found a really creative and concise way to bring accessibility to their football betting markets.

There is a tremendous amount of variety in matches anyway in terms of markets. There are easily 70+ pre-match markets on a lot of games.

You can, of course, click on an individual game and raise all the markets for that.

But for this Sportingbet review, we really liked the ability to quickly see other markets other than the outright on a whole list of matches, with just a quick click of the menu.

That was a big, user-friendly feature that this Sportingbet in-depth look couldn’t go on without mentioning.

Going into an individual match, all of the markets within are listed in blocks in a two-column spread.

There are quick links to the more common football markets in a game like the Number of Goals, Correct Score, Halftime and there was a nice Run of Play market as well.

It’s all easily-readable because the background of the sportsbook is white, allowing for a lot of clarity.

The other thing for which the Sportingbet bookmaker rating is going to be high for their sportsbook is due to the amount of stats that they have going on.

Going back to the main coupons there is readily accessible access to statistics.

For football betting at Sportingbet, they do offer Enhanced Accas which will show up directly in the sportsbook. Or for a quicker oversight, take a look in the Promotions page.

Sportingbet Racing Review

There is plenty of racing available at Sportingbet UK.

There are a lot of international racecards along with the expected domestic ones from the UK and Irish racing all available.

All in all, there is a no-frills sort of feel about Sportingbet, it’s just a very well-presented, simple and uncluttered betting platform.

We liked how horse racing was presented.

There are simple links to the day’s racing, the next day or Futures & Specials.

If a horse is clicked on a race card there will be basic form stats that are raised, such as weight, age, official racing etc.

There is also a menu link to a Forecast coupon on each of the racecards as well.

It’s all very good is the Sportingbet horse racing. In fact, the races in the Sportingbet sportsbook and stands up very well in comparison to plenty of the other industry heavy hitters like Sky Bet, Paddy Power and Betfred.

The racing section does perhaps lack the overall insights of the superb Sky Bet racing coverage, but it’s not disappointing by any regards.

It is easy to build multi’s inside of the Sportingbet bet slip. Incidentally, there is a minimum of 0.50 GBP wager to be placed on horse racing with the bookmaker.

So all in all, there is a good solid racing product. The operator does run Best Odds Guaranteed as well on racing.

So wherever you see the BOG icon (it’s orange) if you take an early price and the SPO is bigger, Sporingbte payout at the bigger odds.

Sportingbet Esports Review

Sportingbet have coverage of Esports betting. There is a link to the section in the top menu so it does have a decent place of importance with them.

Once you are in the Esports betting section at Sportingbet then you can filter things by Competition or by Calendar.

The latter was actually a nice touch which is worth a mention in this Sportingbet UK reviews focus on Esports.

There was good competition coverage (accessed by clicking the Competitions menu).

In our experience, the Competitions menu was the best way to really get to the heart of Esports betting at Sportingbet.

There is an extremely broad coverage that they deliver from around the world.

At the time of exploring for this Sportingbet review, there were over 100 matches in their Esports section.

That ranged from Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch and Starcraft.

The bigger leagues like Dota 2 ESL One, of course, were the ones that had a lot more coverage in them.

One thing we did notice is that the variety of bets beyond the outright match winner market on a lot of the Esports fixtures was not that extensive.

Sportingbet North American Sports Review

Another aspect of the Sportingbet sportsbook that struck a good chord was the coverage of North American sports.

That’s the likes of NBA Basketball, MLB Baseball, NFL American Football and NHL Ice Hockey.

We found the Sportingbet odds to rank very well in these sports, compared to other bookmakers.

They come in strongly with a variety of markets here across all of those sports.

One thing that is noticeable is that they are very good for futures in North American sports.

That is actually something that the Sportingbet UK sportsbook is good for, across a lot of sports. Another of their strong points in regards to those North American markets is their handicap options.

Novelty Markets

We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of options that we found in the novelty bet genre at Sportingbet.

There are good political options there from both domestic and international options. That covers the major and common electoral markets.

But even more impressive was the options that were in the entertainment arena. From Big Brother, Let’s Dance, Masked Singer to Norwegian Idol and the big Academy Awards, Next James Bond and even the Razzies.

So the novelty betting markets scored strongly in the Sportingbet sportsbook.

Sportingbet Sportsbook Summary

There is a lot to enjoy in the Sportingbet sportsbook. The design and layout of the whole thing is superb.

It’s superbly clean and so easy to navigate around thanks to all the menus that they have just about everywhere.

There are some really nice little touches in there like being able to see sub-markets in football betting applied to a whole coupon.

It just allowed for quicker betting. Variety is right out of the top drawer as well and the Sportingbet racing section is full and functional if not laden with features.

So our Sportingbet bookmaker rating does give the sportsbook a high score. It is a very, very solid platform and it is simplicity at its best.

But there is plenty more that we found as we experienced Sportingbet that complements the sportsbook, such as features. We will explore more of that in this Sportingbet review.

Odds Comparisons

odds comparisons

Their football margins were comparable to a lot of other big online betting sites. Depending on the level of football matches there was an average range between 5% and 7.5%.

The lower margins, of course, are going to be on the more popular fixtures like in major tournaments and leagues like the Premier League and La Liga.

So in comparison, looking at a broader range of sports and markets for a bit of odds-comparison, Sportingbet were about average in margins.

There were instances when the odds did fall short in value we felt, and the margins started to creep up towards the higher end of things like on tennis and rugby.

In-play betting 8/10

live in-play betting

The in-play section at Sportingbet is accessed through the top menu.

But as mentioned earlier in this Sportingbet review, there is a dedicated live in-play selection on the main home page.

This is another good section of the Sportingbet website.

We found a good variety of markets available as you would expect from any bookmaker really.

For this Sportingbet review we saw Basketball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Snooker and Cycling when we looked.

There was also a Specials section, which at the time had the New York Lottery numbers as a live betting market.

There are excellent features going on with Sportingbet live in-play betting section.

First things first you can see which of the currently active events can be watched in-play because of a small TV icon next to the listing.

Fluctuations in prices are easily spotted, with a corner flashing either red or green, depending on which way the odds have shifted (lengthening or shortening).

The in-play section is very well organised, it’s clean.

All of the odds sit in their own individual boxes for clarity.

The live scores sit right there next to the market and so it is a neat product overall.

But let’s go ahead and look a little more at Sportingbet UK reviews of some different in-play sections.

In-Play Football

A click on the live football and there are four menus available so that you can customise what you are seeing in terms of markets.

Presented as default at the match outright, over/under and handicaps.

As with the pre-match markets in the sportsbook, with in-play football betting the same customisation can be done in changing what is seen on the coupon.

So you can look at all of the current in-play matches and see the BTTS prices on them for example, just by changing the menu.

It’s another great, user-friendly touch that they should be commended for. We can see how this could easily be a time-saver than having to actually go into an individual match to get to the market.

If you click on a match that is being live-streamed, the access will be right there on the screen in a media box, which in no-way interferes with what you are seeing on the main area of the markets listing.

There are also current statistics available if you want to look, or as an alternative to a live stream.

To the volume of bets that were available for a given match.

Well, that was pretty good as well.

A fixture from the Russian top flight had over 40 bet options available, but then when you get to more major stuff like the Champion League for example, you can expect that to go up to double that amount and even more.

As we will touch on later in this review, all these excellent design features make for a great in-play experience on mobile too.

In-Play Tennis

Because of a couple of things, we liked the live tennis experience that was at Sportingbet.

The first thing is how clear the markets were to read and again, the touch of being able to customise the view of markets that you required.

Throw in live streaming as well and there was much to enjoy for tennis betting.

But the thing that really took it on beyond all that and helps to give the overall Sportingbet in-play rating a good score, is the market variety.

Tennis is perfect for in-play betting because you get breaks in the action. Sportingbet just felt quick and very responsive when it came to market changes and odds value.

There were great markets in there for the next game-winner, and proposition bets on whether a game would go to deuce or not.

There were tiebreak proposition bets, total sets bets and game bets and all topped off with a good little stats, scores and info and the in-play tennis betting at Sportingbet ranked highly for us.

Extras & features 7/10

Extras & features

Next in this Sportingbet betting review, we are going to look at some of the features that accentuate the whole experience there.

Those extra touches that go beyond the sportsbook or indeed, boost the quality of the sportsbook even.

There is a media box at Sportingbet which we will put into focus first of all. This sits on the right hand side of the screen.

It looks innocuous at first but then you notice what it does. That is where any live stream will happen and in there you can scroll through a menu of all the live action.

If there’s not a live stream for an event, or of course if you just don’t want to watch it, then that is where statistics, like league tables or current statistics in live in-play betting can be raised.

The fact that it just sits there in its own little box, in its own little space is nice because it is so accessible and so unobtrusive.

The other two features, but standard ones across the industry now are the Build a Bet and Cash Out options.

Build a Bet

There is a Build a Bet option at Sportingbet and this is available only on pre-match football matches.

There is no cash out option on a Build a Bet wager.

The tool basically lets you create a wager of your won from preset markets. A minimum of two and a maximum of eight picks can be done for a single match.

Cash Out

There is a Cash Out function at Sportingbet then which is available for single and multi only, which just means that system bets don’t qualify.

The easiest way is to just visit the My Bets tab in the bet slip to see which open bets it can be used on.

Edit My Bet

There is an Edit My Bet tool to be found. This is available across a range of selected events and markets.

It can be done pre-match and with live bets as well.

The Sportingbet Edit My Bet tool simply allows for the addition or subtraction of options to an open bet, such as adding an extra leg to a running acca.

Sportingbet Live Streaming

Live streaming is a big part of the Sportingbet experience.

For our Sportingbet UK reviews of different parts of their sportsbook, we realised just how many of their events were up for live streaming.

There is no fee attached to a Sportingbet live stream, you will just need an active/funded account with them.

The range of sports then that we came across for live streaming was impressive.

Of course there was football there, but also basketball, tennis and event Esports as well, which we thought was an excellent addition to the services.

Although we have mentioned it before in this Sportingbet bookmaker review, we have to again stress that the streams sit in their own Media box.

That just easily controls the viewing accessibility, making it so easy to handle.

The live streaming is an absolutely great feature of the Sportingbet website, another good design touch.

You can just land on the main sports betting page of Sportingbet and the Media box is there and you can scroll through the live stream options.

Even when you have picked something from a live in-play market to stream you can go and browse around the rest of the sportsbook, as well as the in-play wagers for that stream without losing sight of it.

It’s great and something from the Sportingbet player review perspective, that stands out.

Sportingbet Virtual Betting

There is virtual betting at Sportingbet. There is a direct link in the main menu and this opens up its own section on the main screen.

The options for Virtuals betting with them during our look, was football, greyhounds, cycling, tennis and horses. So there was a decent range of virtual sports betting that some other bookmakers have.

The graphics are great incidentally and the betting is straightforward and simple.

There’s not really a difference in terms of how to bet on virtuals as there is on betting on regular sports.

Horses can be backed each way for example, and options for a virtual match include not only the outright, but the number of goals that are going to be in the game and the correct score.

You just add selections to your slip and place a stake.

Virtual betting at Sportingbet runs 24/7 and with only a few minutes between each match or race.

Sportingbet Statistics/Scores/Results

There is good statistical support running throughout the Sportingbet website.

Next to the markets there are icons indicating that you can click through to stats for a given game.

There are also statistics available through the Media Box as well, which we have mentioned in his review.

All in all, there is a really good statistics service at Sportingbet.

User-friendliness of website & mobile app / mobile version 8/10

User-friendliness of website & mobile app

The user-friendliness of the Sportingbet website is frankly, very, very good.

The layout is clean and straightforward, as is the betting platform.

The organisation and navigation around the website has been well thought out and it all ranks very highly with us.

The website was responsive, quick and there are so many good little features, like the coupon menus, media box and the organisation of the betting slip right at the bottom of the screen, which makes for a very solid product.

The user interface makes the site very easy on the eye.

There is nothing flashy about the website at all, but that just helps with the speed of operation there and browsing through markets.

Just to close out this part of the Sportingbet review it is worth mentioning how functional the bet slip was.

Sportingbet App Review - 8/10

Sportingbet app review

There is a Sportingbet app download which is available for both iOS and Android.

They can both be directly downloaded from the Sportingbet website, while the iOS version is available in the App Store.

Within the apps a customer can get the full experience of all of the betting markets on the go.

In particular, the in-play betting experience does cross over very well.

Part of that is because of their great graphical interface relating to the action that is happening.

The layout is very responsive on the Sportingbet app and there is all the coverage there that exists on the main site.

They do have mobile exclusive offers like best odds guaranteed on Premier League prices.

A Sportingbet sign up can be done directly through the app and the Sportingbet new customer offer can also be picked up there.

In summary, the Sportingbet app is very clean and easy to use and it’s possible to use their build a bet feature, price boosts, cash out and other promotions there as well.

Sportingbet Customer Service & Support, Security & Reliability 7/10

Sportingbet Customer Service

There is a help section available and we found it to be quite extensive.

All areas that we could think of were covered in there, with notably a very good section about payments and deposits to accounts.

Once you have logged in at Sportingbet there will be an option to contact them directly with any questions to which you can’t find the answers to on the website.

A Sportingbet live chat is available to connect with an agent.

Safer Gambling

There’s an impressive selection of tools and dedicated content to safer gambling on SportingBet. They have a good video and gambling controls including:

  • Spending Controls
  • Time Management
  • Self-Exclusion

They also list various tools including:

  • Budget Calculator
  • Self-Assessment Tool

And you can track your activity with:

  • Profit and Loss

There’s also advanced player protection available and a list of support organisations and contact details available. Use the Sportingbet safer gambling page for more details.

Our Sportingbet review rating: 9 / 10

Sportingbet review

We will wrap this Sportingbet customer review up by saying that they have always been one of those betting platforms which just operates very well.

It is a no-nonsense platform and the design of the sportsbook and apps are both fantastic.

They have made things so easy to get around and find markets and everything is presented so clearly.

It’s very easy to read everything on the website and this helps the transition over to either their mobile website or Sportingbet app.

The usual betting staples in terms of features are there like live streams, bet builder and virtual betting and it all just forms an excellent service.

There are no bells and whistles of big features and big promotions.

They just offer a very straight forward service for their customers, which is good!

It’s just basic betting done very well and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. They get a wonderfully high bookmaker rating from us.
