PADDY POWER REVIEW 2020 - SPORTS BETTING REVIEW

OUR OPINIONS ABOUT PADDY POWER

  • Incredible selection of money back specials.
  • Highly recommended customer service.
  • High value on sporting odds.

Online-Betting Rating:

Paddy Power UK is firmly recognisable in the world of online betting.

They have built themselves a massive reputation through sometimes edgy advertising campaigns, but they are one of the powerhouses of online sports betting.

This is our Paddy Power bookmaker review in which we take a look across their betting platform, odds, features and test the Paddy power app as well.

So this is going to be an in-depth Paddy Power UK review all based on our experience.

Paddy Power has always pushed for strong marketing campaigns, which have been controversial at times.

But that is the edgy branding that they have gone for, seeming to not mind pushing boundaries in their attempt to pull in new customers.

Paddy Power was founded back in 1988 when three Irish bookmakers came together.

Right from the very beginning, they have gone for an unconventional approach in an industry which is largely conventional.

But in this Paddy Power review, we will look at some of the features which have helped them grow to become an award-winning bookmaker.

They may push boundaries (and buttons) and more often than not, it pays off for them.

Throughout this review, we will give our Paddy Power rating on different aspects of their services.

Betting markets and odds quality 9/10

Betting markets

There is a tremendous amount to enjoy in the Paddy Power sportsbook. That is because it is so big.

Probably the only thing that you will ever need is their abridged Quick Links menu over on the left-hand side of the screen above the main A-Z betting list.

That’s a good Paddy Power best betting tip for speed of navigation. The quick links just get you to the heart of the latest betting action right there on the main screen so you don’t have to go digging around.

Click an event and everything you need for your betting on it will appear in the main console area of the screen.

That is where all of the latest action is happening, listing the current in-play markets, along with those that are upcoming.

The sportsbook and betting markets within actually run a lot deeper and more vastly than it would initially appear.

There are a lot of markets in just about any sport that you can imagine.

That’s from Paddy Power football betting to domestic Irish sports, to North American sports and even more niche markets like trotting and such.

They are also great exponents of special markets, something that any Paddy Power account holder is probably well aware of.

Paddy Power creates unique market options, sometimes based on ‘out-there’ events happening and again, some of these in the past have created controversy.

But it is a testament to their popularity and creativity and market pull that they keep doing this.

They don’t skimp on the market odds either because they are very strong. Their betting margins on soccer are some of the lowest around and that offers, of course, great value down the line for punters.

Overall, Paddy Power offers very generous margins and they provide comprehensive coverage of racing from both domestic shores and abroad.

All over there is a very strong sportsbook with vast, vast market options and strong odds. We will go into things like Paddy Power football markets and more as we continue our sportsbook review.

Paddy Power Football Review

Paddy Power football betting is naturally something that is front and centre in the bookmaker’s services.

That’s just because of the nature of the beast, in that football betting is just a massive thing. Naturally, the big focus is on the Premier League and football tiers in England.

The top European leagues are excellently covered along with any key international action.

But for those who like to dip into more obscure matches, there are games from just about every corner of the globe to be found at Paddy Power.

The matches are clearly listed as there is plenty of white space surrounding matches in coupons and in between prices.

There is, of course, a lot of variety that is on offer in terms of markets within an individual match and that includes markets such as the regular correct score, scorecast and both teams to score markets.

But there is a wider range that happens in football matches, as there are #WhatOddsPaddy listings and those are organised by price ranges too (for example 50/1 to 99/1).

There is also a #WhatOddsPaddy – Featured market as well. We will take a deeper look at the #WhatOddsPaddy feature later in this review, but it’s essentially where punters create their own bets.

It is also easy to see which of the markets are available for cash out, by a little icon of a stack of cash indicating so.

When you have clicked into an individual match, by listing the date and kick-off time, there is a button to activate a live stream. So if a stream is available for a match it will all be there right on the same page.

Going back to a bit of navigation, in an individual match, there is a horizontal menu to jump down to sections such as the Handicaps, Team & Players and Cards & Corners.

There is just a staggering amount of markets that are available in the Paddy Power football section.

Our Paddy Power bookmaker rating is high and the wonderful football betting options they have is a big part of that.

But there is a lot more to the overall Paddy Power services than that.

Paddy Power Racing Preview

There is a big, big focus on horse racing as well at Paddy Power. The racing is very well laid out, it’s a sharp design where you can scroll across the forthcoming races.

The coverage that they have pulls in racing fixtures from the UK & Irish racing as well as a wide range of international cards.

There is live streaming available at Paddy Power through Sky Sports Racing.

Any race that is going to be shown will be listed at the top of the card. We will take a full look at the Paddy Power live streaming services later in this Paddy Power

If a race is clicked then it will bring up some basic information like the jockey, trainer, age and weight. They list the price movements on the individual runners in the race as well so you can see how the market has been reacting.

Another good aspect of Paddy power is that they deliver Power Prices, which are special price boosts on pre-set options, such as two named selections both winning at the same meeting.

In the Paddy Power horse racing menu, there are links to Meetings & Results, Future, Virtuals and Specials.

There are #WhatOddsPaddy options available on racing as well, which is a wonderfully unique touch. Most of the horse racing specials are about futures such as the seasons’ Flat Jockeys Championship winner and the Flat Trainers Championship.

Paddy Power does apply Extra Place specials to horse races daily.

Paddy Power Esports Review

Another massively strong part of the Paddy Power betting experience is eSports. There is an absolute stack of Esports betting markets that are available on the website.

It’s highly impressive and another good reason that the Paddy Power online bookmaker rating comes in high.

The coverage that they are offering comes from all of the popular offerings, with tournaments from around the world.

Among the game options for eSports betting at Paddy Power are Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Dota 2 Mars, FIFA Football, Starcraft, League of Legends and Overwatch.

So that should be more than enough to keep punters happy. Depending on the match and the league that it is from, that will affect the number of markets within each Esports fixture.

But we did take a dip into a Dota 2 match from Los Angeles and there were betting options like Correct Score, Map Handicap, First Aegis, First Barracks, 2-Way Most kills and so on.

So their eSports section is very, very good and well worth exploring based on what we found for this Paddy Power betting UK review.

It was on a whole, one of the best eSports sportsbook sections that we have come across.

Paddy Power North American Sports Review

Another big area of the Paddy Power sportsbook is North American sports markets.

Punters will see these being pushed a lot, notably the Basketball betting action from the NBA and American Football action from the NFL.

Other interests like USA Racing, ice-hockey, MLS soccer and baseball can be found as well, of course.

Again one of the stands out factors about the North American coverage of betting markets that are on Paddy Power is the variety.

There are some wonderful options available for spreads and handicaps.

Notably, on NFL betting, the markets just run on and on and on from the outright money lines through to player markets and proposition bets on matches.

There is also excellent tournament coverage on outrights form conference winners through to the Super Bowl victors.

Paddy Power Novelty Markets

We touched on the next part earlier in this Paddy Power online review. They have such a big reputation for being strong in the non-sports betting markets and more often than not, they come up with some really creative and unique markets.

Punters should be able to find plenty of current affairs markets on the site from the likes of the Nobel Prize, Royals betting and even the Papal Name of the next Pope.

Something that is very good about the Paddy Power novelty markets is their novelty within them, creating specials on markets.

There is a section marked up as Special Bets in the Paddy Power menu and covers most things from the world of entertainment. Think things like Britain’s Got Talent, Love Island, I’m a Celebrity and so on.

Other markets that have been seen there include the Sports Personality of the Year, Weather Specials and Novelty Specials such as the reunion year of the band Oasis.

Based on our experience of Paddy Power, the Novelty betting section is well worth looking for if that is an area of interest.

The other big non-sports betting markets covered are the Politics. That is not just domestic markets but European and worldwide ones as well.

Just going back to how creative they are with bets, we saw an option of President Donald Trump to open Area 51 to the public during his first team in the office.

They also have some physical appearance and Narcissism specials which punters would be unlikely to find elsewhere.

Summary

It’s hard to find much at fault with the Paddy Power sportsbook. It is just very, very good and that is from everything from navigation through to odds and bet variety.

Their sportsbook is easy to get around and that is both on the main website and in the Paddy Power app, which we will review later.

The market and odds variety that they bring to the table consistently is just remarkable.

It is so extensive what they cover and it is also their creativity with markets and options which means that we have to give them a glowing mark in this Paddy Power UK review.

odds comparisons

As you would expect from a major online betting powerhouse, Paddy Power does not really come up short when it comes to market odds. They are generally at the right end of the business when it comes to that.

In our experience, the Paddy Power football betting margins are some of the lowest around, based on the top 5 European leagues. That offers, of course, great value down the line for punters.

Overall throughout their sportsbook, Paddy Power offers very generous margins and they provide comprehensive coverage of racing from both domestic shores and abroad.

Paddy Power sign up bonus, free bets & current promotions 10/10

bonus offers

There is a Paddy Power welcome offer for qualifying players. Their regular welcome bonus is a £20 risk-free bet.

That will be based on the first bet struck on the sportsbook, which if it loses, the operator will credit the stake back as CASH up to the maximum value of £20.

Note that there is a Paddy Power bonus code needed upon registration. The bonus code is YSKAEE and full details can be found in their full T&Cs for the Paddy Power welcome bonus.

Also, the only qualifying initial deposits can be made via a debit card or by Apple Pay.

New customers only. Place your FIRST bet on any sportsbook market and if it loses we will refund your stake in CASH. Max refund for this offer is £20. Only deposits made using Cards or Apple Pay will qualify for this promotion. Full T&Cs apply. 18+. Please Gamble Responsibly. See details directly at Paddy Power.

Other Paddy Power Bonuses

Paddy Power have always been a very good bookmaker when it comes to the number of promotions that they offer.

Our recommendation is to visit the Paddy Power Promotions page often because they do cycle through event-specific offers.

That could include, but not be limited to, free bet offers on certain horse races or football matches.

Paddy Power Power Ups

What is a paddy Power Power Up? That’s a good question. The answer is that it is basically a chance to boost the odds on a selection that is in a betting slip. The Paddy Power Power Ups are controlled within the bet slip.

Say that you have made a Correct Score prediction on Man City v Man Utd at 10/1 odds. If there is a Power Up applicable to the bet, then it will appear alongside that wager in the bet slip.

Activate the Power Up button and you would get a price boost on that selection. The value of the Power UP will depend on the bet and price, but in this example, it could move to 12/1 odds.

How to get a Paddy Power Power Up is the next question to address. There are different ways.

The most common way is to place a wager on a qualifying market. That could, for example, be a £5 in-play Esports bet on a Saturday, or a qualifying £10 stake placed on a nominated horse race.

The other way will be collecting through the Paddy Power Rewards Club. Let’s take a look at that.

Paddy Power Rewards Club

There are three different ways that as a customer at Paddy Power, rewards can be earned in their club. A promotional week for the Paddy Power Rewards club runs from Monday at 00.01 and Sunday at 23.59.

The maximum free bet is £10 per customer per week and there is a maximum 1 Power Up per customer per week.

Within that period, punters can either:

Place 1 bet of €5+, and you will be credited with a Power Up the following Monday.

Place 5 bets of €5+, and you will be credited with a free bet of €5 and a Power Up the following Monday.

place 5 bets of €10+, and you will be credited with a free bet of €10 and a Power Up the following Monday.

Key T&Cs: Applies to Win singles only. Power Up can only be used on Sports.
Can be used both in-play or pre-play. Max stake varies and is limited to £50. Can’t be used on multiples, power prices, score/win casts, Lotteries, Fantasy or Virtuals. Does not apply to retail bets. Bets placed with free bets will not qualify. To register for the free bet, login with your new or existing Paddy Power account and join the promotion. Full T&C’s Apply 18+. Please Gamble Responsibly. See details directly at Paddy Power.

Accumulator Bet Insurance

This Paddy Power offer covers all sports and all markets except for horse racing.

If a punter has a 4+ fold acca OR a same game multi which is let down by just one leg, then they will refund the stake as a free bet up to £10.

There is a maximum free bet of £10 available each day through this offer.

Key T&Cs: The promotion is available for new and existing customers with registered Paddy Power accounts, aged 18 or over. Applies to 4+ fold ACCA or Same Game Multi bets. Applies to all markets and all sports except horse racing. Applies to be settled before 30th of June 2020. Money Back as a free bet if one leg of your 4+ ACCA lets you down. Max free bet £10 per customer per day, referring to the day the qualifying bet is settled. Free bet will be available for 7 days from when it is credited. Free bet stake not included in any subsequent winnings. Full T&C’s Apply 18+. Please Gamble Responsibly. See details directly at Paddy Power.

In-play betting 9/10

live in-play betting

Across the very top menu on the Paddy Power website, there is a link to in-play betting. There is one at the top of the left-hand sportsbook menu as well.

While the best of the current live-action is available directly on the homepage of the sportsbook, a link to the in-play section is where the full extent of the coverage can be found.

In this next part of the Paddy Power UK review, we will take a look at their in-play services.

As a quick overview, there is a big in-play betting section which again can be quickly accessed from the start menu.

This is a very well presented in-play section as well. You have the list of current events that are going on and those which are about to start as well.

On that main in-play section of Paddy Power, the different sports are listed across the top of the page

You can sort the listing between sports to make things easier and for a live game, for example, you will see the number of in-play markets available on that event, along with the current screen and you get a great graphical representation of the game as well.

With it being so quick to switch between markets, this really is a product which is very well done.

In-Play Football

The in-play football options at Paddy Power are big. Extensively so. Naturally, there is full coverage of all the major leagues and competitions from Europe. That’s a given but matches from further-flung corners of the world get some attention too.

It is the market variety, a recurring theme of this Paddy Power bookmaker review that we have to go back to.

There are easily upward of 75 in-play betting options available on the bigger, higher featured football games.

So punters are not likely going to find themselves in a position where they cannot find a selection that they are looking for. Any markets that are available for cash-out are indicated by icons.

There is a graphical match representation sitting at the top of the page and if there is a live stream available, it will be accessible on that same page.

Otherwise, it is the graphical representation that you can watch. There is a handy quick link to relevant statistics as well.

So it is a full-on, one-stop-shop for in-play betting. The listing is very well organised so punters should be able to get through to their preferred markets easily enough.

There is a horizontal menu listing across the top of the individual in-play match. It just offers a quick link to bet sections like Player bets, Score bets and Handicaps.

In-Play Tennis

In-play Tennis betting is very well covered as well at Paddy Power.

There is the same set up as the football, where there is a graphical representation of the game to try and judge how the action is flowing. Any live stream can be raised on the same page.

In-play tennis markets include the likes of the next game-winner within a set, overall set betting and proposition bets like Both Players to win a Set (Yes/No).

The bigger the fixture is, then the more markets are going to be available to the in-play tennis audience.

A big nod towards how good the Paddy Power in-play tennis is, when we looked around we even found exhibition matches being covered.

So that is a really full gamut of tennis betting coverage.

Extras & features 9/10

Extras & features

Along with holding a big sportsbook and being prominent with their promotions, there are plenty of other features available at Paddy Power.

In the next part of this in-depth Paddy Power review, we are going to take a look at some of them.

Cash Out

There is extensive cash out options around the Paddy Power sportsbook. That applies to both pre-match and in-play betting.

That allows players to lock in a profit or mitigate loss before an event is finished. Paddy Power will offer payouts based on the live market prices.

To find any unsettled bets that are available for cash out, you will need to look under the ‘My Bets’ sections. There you will be able to see which of them will be available for Cash Out.

There is partial cash out available as well.

On an active bet, you will have access to a green ‘slider’ button which you can adjust until you find the value that you are looking for. From there it is just a click of the ‘Cash Out” button.

AskPaddyPower

If there is a creative bet that you want to create that is not directly available in the Paddy Power then you can try and get a quote from Paddy Power.

To do that a punter just has to Tweet @PaddyPower with the bet using #WhatOddsPaddy.

Then Paddy Power will reply and if they price up the bet, they will offer a link to follow and place the bet. Any priced up #WhatOddsPaddy bets can be found in the markets of the sportsbook.

For example, visiting a Champions League match between Liverpool and Real Madrid, there will be listings of the #WhatOddsPaddy bets that are already available.

Under the Football section of the sportsbook, then there is a link to the daily football #WhatOddsPaddy quotes.

Paddy Power Live Streaming

There is live streaming available at Paddy Power and plenty of it as well. It is possible that there will be bet requirements to access some streams, notably on horse racing.

When it comes to racing streams, a minimum total stake of £1.00 must be placed to watch a single race. This can be in the form of a £/€1.00 single or £/€0.50 Each-Way(E/W).

To watch US and RSA racing you must have a funded account with a balance of at least GBP2 (or currency equivalent).
To watch US and RSA racing you must have a funded account with a balance of at least GBP2 (or currency equivalent).

The video streams from Paddy Power are available to funded account holders and what can be shown will be determined by territory.

If a stream is available then they can be accessed through the in-play betting screen for that particular match. Sports available through the Paddy Power live streaming includes tennis and basketball.

To get to the streams you will have to do a Paddy Power login first and ensure that there are either funds in your account, or a relevant bet has been placed on a horse race.

Just visit the current live betting events to see the stream. They used to be activated in a pop-out screen, but are now nicely integrated into the page.

Paddy Power Virtual Betting

There is Virtual Betting available at Paddy Power. In the Virtuals section, accessible by either the left-hand sportsbook menu or the main top menu, there is flat racing, jumps racing, sprints, football, greyhounds and motorsport to be going on with.

These are Paddy Power games, randomly generated races and fixtures done by a computer. There is a new race or a new football match happening every three minutes and the virtual matches/races last only around a minute each. So there is a rapid turnover of bets available.

What about the bet variety within the Paddy Power Virtuals section? The note that we could find in terms of best variety within virtual football betting markets.

For this Paddy Power review, we found options like correct score and goals totals alongside the match outright.

Paddy Power virtual betting was all neat and tidy, very well laid out and the coupons clear to read.

The graphics quality of the events was very good, but it was perhaps an area overall where variety didn’t hit the usual heights.

Paddy Power Statistics/Scores/Results

If you look down near the bottom of the sportsbook menu then there is a section for football stats. Within that, there are things like tables and fixtures.

The statistics within the horse racing cards are good. Other features that can be found are horse racing results along with horse racing commentary as well.

If there are relevant statistics available for a given match, for example, they will be directly available through the match page in the sportsbook.

Paddy Power Fantasy

There is somewhat of a unique section available at Paddy Power. That is the Paddy Power Fantasy section. In this punters can enter a contest to play against other players.

The sports available in the Paddy Power Fantasy section are NFL, Football, NBA and Golf. Select a contest and pick the players to create your dream team and then follow the games, track your players’ form, and top your league to win cash.

Fantasy Betting is a huge thing in the US and Paddy Power have brought it to the UK.

There are daily fantasy contests running or longer-term ones if you want to take on the long challenge of a season.

You can log in using your Paddy Power account and use your account funds to enter.

Paddy Power payment options - deposit and withdrawal methods 8/10

Paddy Power payment options

Available options with which to make a payment to a Paddy Power account. Does Paddy Power accept PayPal?

Yes, that is one of the methods available. The list of valid payment methods at Paddy Power are debit cards, bank transfers, neteller, paypal, paysafecard, Skrill, cash card and Cash Card Plus.

To access all the payment details, just go to the cashier at the Paddy Power My Account section.

Due to new regulations set by the UK Gambling Commission in 2020 Paddy Power no longer accepts payments via credit card.

Just circling back to the Paddy Power welcome bonus it is worth reminding that there restrictions there as only initial funds through debit card or Apple Pay qualify for the welcome offer.

How to make a Paddy Power withdrawal

When it comes to making a withdrawal at Paddy Power, you would need to send the funds back to your funding source.

The time that it would take to process a withdrawal will depend on the method.

Paddy Power does have to process the payments themselves as a security check before being released to your financial institution.

Withdrawals, in general, take between 2-3 working days but sometimes can take up to five days.

As long as the payment has not been processed then it is possible to reverse/cancel a Paddy power payout that has been activated.

User-friendliness of website & mobile app / mobile version 8/10

User-friendliness of website

So on to a summary of the Paddy Power website overall. There is a lot going on there and it will keep punters occupied.

Let’s start with the design of the website. Paddy Power used to have a really cluttered and heavy feel about their site.

That is no longer the case at all now, because it is modern and fresh and clean. There is plenty of white space around between markets and betting options.

The bet slip has some great functionality in it that allows to quickly multiply and apply any Paddy Power Power Ups.

It is easy to find your way around the website after a Paddy Power sign in, because of the main sportsbook menu plus the horizontal menus that come up to speed things up.

It’s all very well laid out and designed. The site operates quickly and fluidly as well for an overall excellent experience.

Next, we will have a look at the Paddy Power app

Paddy Power Mobile App 8/10

mobile app

For both iOS and Android there are versions of the Paddy Power app to download. For those on the iOS platform a search within the App Store for Paddy Power Sport can be done from there.

The way to get access to the Paddy Power app download for Android, just visit their website on your device to get their mobile website version and from there the option to get the app will be presented.

The full range of features that you can find on the Paddy Power website will be found in the Paddy Power app.

That includes the vast sportsbook, live streams, features and any Paddy Power bonus that is open, like the ability to Power Up a bet.

So it is fully functional, giving fingertip access to the likes of same game multi, in-play betting where they stream over 100,000 events each year and the live stats that are available.

If you are looking at a live stream then it will be integrated into the same page as the live in-play betting markets that are available for it.

The Paddy Power app is fast and navigation in our experience was smooth and quick. The bet slip notably reads very well on the site.

Bets which are placed via the Paddy Power app do still qualify for the Paddy Power Rewards Club as well. So that bonus can still be claimed.

Also, through the Paddy Power app you can do live in-running betting on all horse races as well, at the same time as watching a stream.

It is an excellent product and there is a quick Paddy Power login, especially on iOS where a pin, Touch ID or Face ID can be used to gain quick access.

Paddy Power Customer Service & Support, Security & Reliability 9/10

Paddy Power Customer Service

Next is how to contact Paddy Power. There is a Contact Us link right in the Help section at Paddy Power.

They will direct you first of all to their help centre to try and give you the answers that you need. The knowledge base is pretty extensive.

Within the FAQ section on the Paddy Power website there are links to a message chat with an operator.

They cite that as being the quickest way to get into contact with them. Their support email is support@paddypower.com.

If you are asking yourself how to delete Paddy Power account, the first point will be to contact them.

The live chat is the quickest way to do that and you will be directed from there. There is no customer option to directly do it.

Our Paddy Power review rating: 9 / 10

Paddy Power review

So we come to the conclusion of our Paddy Power bookie review. There has been a lot to take in, but what we have done has, by and large, been excellent all round.

So this Paddy Power online review does return a lot of positives.

Their sportsbook is one of the best that we have experienced among online betting sites.

It is just stacked with options. We particularly enjoyed the number of novelty bets that they put out and that does cross over into sports markets as well. Punters will be hard pushed to find such creative markets elsewhere.

The racing coverage on the site is simply excellent which will have a lot of appeal to a lot of players.

The entire service can be started with a Paddy Power welcome offer and another big aspect of their services is the amount of Paddy Power offers that are across the site. That’s something they’ve been good at.

For anyone questioning are Paddy Power and Betfair the same, they are not.

They are part of the same company, yes after a sizable merger, but they are separate operating entities.

Users of both may see some crossover similarities in things like layout and markets for example, but they are not the same.

So overall, the Paddy Power experience that we had was fantastic.
