Although my previous pick is also centered around the Premier League, this fixture between hosts Hull City and visitors Leicester City marks the start of a new Premier league season which kicks off at lunchtime on Saturday at the KC Stadium.
Hull will start the new season though without a manager in place (at the time of writing), following former manager Steve Bruce’s departure due to a ‘lack of transfer activity’ – and Hull do seem very light up front as a result.
Strikers Hernandez and Diomande will have to bear the burden of finding the back of the net on a regular basis if the Tigers are to avoid the drop this season, after having secured promotion via the play-offs in the Championship at the end of last term.
Visitors Leicester City will do extremely well to emulate last season’s triumphant and incredible title-winning campaign where they led the league for the majority of the season and deservedly won the league – and by a margin of 10 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal.
However, the Foxes may well find themselves victims of their own success as a european campaign also beckons the east midlands club, and not many teams can cope with the extra rigours of the european schedule on top of the domestic one.
But with the attacking flair of Mahrez, Vardy and Ulloa in attack, Leicester should fina a way of securing all three points here in today’s lunchtime Premier League curtain-raiser.
