Spurs could edge Tigers in close encounter

Hull City host Tottenham this Sunday afternoon at the KC Stadium as they look for their first Premier League win since early October.

Hull’s last win in the top flight was a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Crystal Palace early last month but since then The Tigers have drawn two and lost two, although their points gained at Arsenal and Liverpool away in 2-2 and 0-0 draws respectively were a welcome bonus.

However, back-to-back defeats going into the international break was not the ideal end for Steve Bruce’s side as they went down 0-1 at home to Southampton and 0-1 away at relegation rivals Burnley at Turf Moor. On home soil, Hull’s only success was the win over Palace while their overall record reads an average  1-2-2  7/8.

Visitors Tottenham find themselves in somewhat unfamiliar territory this season as they currently sit in a disappointing mid-table position ahead of today’s encounter at Hull. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed rumours of dressing-room unrest, but their last match ended in defeat at home to Stoke City 1-2 which wouldn’t have helped matters.

Prior to the Stoke loss though, Tottenham did manage to take all three points at Aston Villa, and with Hull City being a very similar outfit, I reckon Spurs stand a good chance of getting something out of today’s match. Tottenham’s overall away record stands at  2-2-1  7/8 and they’ve lost just once on the road which was to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, and their other win on their travels was at West Ham.

To sum up, this match really could go either way, but I’ll back the visitors in this one to just about edge the points as they possess greater depth in the attacking areas than the hosts Hull City. Tottenham to win perhaps 2-1.
