LA Galaxy registered a useful 6-1 win in their midweek US Open Cup match hammering PSA Elite in the process and they’ll be hoping this kick-starts their season from now on in.
The LA outfit have yet to really fire on all cylinders but they welcome back Irish striker Robbie Keane back up front for tonight’s clash, and they’ll be hoping he and Zardes (3 goals) can lift them at home tonight.
But despite their mid-table position, the Galaxy have lost just once in their last five while at home they hold an overall record of 5-2-1 9/4 having won three of their last five with wins over Sporting Kansas, Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake City before their loss to Vancouver Whitecaps last time out at the Stubhub Centre.
Visitors Philadelphia Union currently occupy 7th place in the Eastern Conference and despite their four wins so far this season, three of these have been registered at home with just one win on the road all season to date.
Last weekend they lost 2-1 at home to New York City, while their overall away record reads a disappointing 1-2-5 10/17 and they’ve also conceded the most goals on the road of the whole Conference.
Three defeats from their last four away matches at Columbus Crew, Vancouver Whitecaps and DC United will still be in the backs of their minds despite a recent win at New York Red Bulls, along with just two clean sheets on their travels so far.
I’ll back LA Galaxy to click into gear here tonight with the return of Keane in their attacking personnel and they could take this perhaps 2-1.
