The venue is Fir Park in Motherwell next up in the Scottish Premiership with hosts Motherwell taking on Celtic in a top half clash which promises to be an entertaining affair with both teams in pretty decent form going onto this encounter.
Motherwell have won their last five overall on the trot with wins over Partick Thistle, Hamilton, Dundee United, Aberdeen and Inverness Caledonian, and are currently enjoying fourth spot in the Scottish Premiership.
With just one match remaining of the regular season, Motherwell have already secured their place in the Championship Round but they’ll be keen to keep their run going and they’ve already beaten Celtic at Celtic Park in a 2-1 win back in December, so today won’t hold any worries.
Visitors Celtic have already secured another title ahead of their trip to Motherwell as they sit five points ahead of second placed Aberdeen who lost 2-1 away at Hearts on Friday night. Having put together an eight-match unbeaten run as well, Celtic will be keen to keep this run of form going into the Championship round where a European spot is up for grabs at the end of it.
Celtic’s away record stands at an impressive 10-4-2 32/15 and they’ve suffered just one defeat on their travels from their last 12 matches played (a defeat at Aberdeen), but they do also hold a good record away at top half opposition with stats of 4-1-2 12/7.
Although the result is far from being academic in Celtic’s favour, there is a high likelihood that we’ll see a few goals banged in at Fir Park today with Motherwell possessing the likes of Moult and Celtic have the league’s top goalscorer Griffiths (26 goals) up front.
