Norwich City crashed back down to earth on Boxing Day when they were sent packing from White Hart Lane in a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham following their impressive victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford just before Christmas.
Despite recent defeats to Watford and Tottenham, Norwich City have picked up some useful points in recent weeks in their bid to avoid the dreaded drop down to the Championship as they’ve held both Arsenal and Everton to 1-1 draws along with the win over United.
Norwich are also unbeaten in their last three matches at Carrow Road with an additional win over Swansea City amidst an overall record of 2-3-3 9/10. On a positive note though, The Canaries have failed to score at home just once all season so far.
Visitors Aston Villa earned a third draw in four matches on Boxing Day as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at Villa Park, and this valuable point follows previous recent points earned against Southampton and New castle United.
However, with the west midlands outfit nine points adrift of 17th placed Norwich City and safety, Remi Garde’s side need to start winning games if they’re to stand any chance of lifting themselves out of the bottom three in the Premier League.
Aston Villa possess a poor away record which stands at 1-2-6 9/19 with only Norwich City and Sunderland conceding more away goals than The Villains on the road in the league to date. This last statistic leads me to believe they may well struggle at Carrow Road this afternoon.
