ST JOHNSTONE v ABERDEEN

Football – Scotland – Premiership Betting Tips

The beginning of phase two of the Scottish domestic season gets underway on Friday night with St Johnstone and Aberdeen starting things off in the Championship round at McDiarmid Park with a vital three points up for grabs for both sides.

St Johnstone head into this encounter following back-to-back defeats to Dundee United and Kilmarnock and their home form has been pretty up-and-down in recent weeks as they’ve managed wins over Motherwell and Inverness along with draws against Ross County and Hamilton, but have also gone down to losses against Dundee United and Partick Thistle.

Goals have never been very far away though, and in St Johnstone’s 17 home matches so far, 9 of them have resulted in over 2.5 goals with strikers MacLean and Cummins being the most likely goalscorers this evening for the home side.

Visitors Aberdeen will be looking to repeat their 4-3 win that they recorded a few weeks back again here tonight as they look to get their Championship round phase off to a good start. The Dons finished second to leaders Celtic at the end of the regular season, and their away record finished up on a creditable  10-1-6  30/23.

Aberdeen have also been involved in a number of games where the result has ended in over 2.5 goals, and their last five matches on the trot have all ended this way too. However, Abereedn have also lost their last two away matches on the trot, so they too will be wanting to end this mini slump as soon as possible.

Strikers Adam Rooney and Church are the dangermen up front for the visitors, and I reckon both sides will fancy their chances of taking this one. More goals to come…
