Can Welsh end Autumn on a high?

Rugby Betting

Wales head back into international rugby duty on Saturday when they play hosts to South Africa. This will be a big test now for the Welsh who have suffered a heavy defeat against Australia and then eked out narrow wins over Argentina and then Japan in their Autumn Series so far. Confidence can’t exactly be high in the camp at the moment. So it hasn’t been great stuff from Wales and they drew in a lot of criticism for their narrow 33-30 victory over Japan.

Wales v South Africa Rugby International Betting Odds

Wales 1/2, South Africa 7/4, Draw 22/1

The Welsh really struggled in the match and they only took the win thanks to a last minute drop goal in Cardiff. So they have something to prove when they step out this weekend in taking on the out-of-form Springboks. Do the Welsh have a better performance in them than any they have shown in this Autumn series so far? This is their last chance to produce something of note before the end of the year.

Much like Wales, the performances of South Africa have not been up to scratch either in the Autumn Series. The Springboks have been a long way short of their best and kicked things off with a 31-31 tie against the Barbarians. They then suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of England at Twickenham before slumping to a 20-18 defeat out in Italy. So they have huge problems on their hands at the moment and they don’t seem to have too much of a game plan happening at the moment.

This will be the 32nd game between Wales and South Africa and there is a huge imbalance in the head to head. South Africa leads it 28-2 with just the one game drawn. The last time that they met was back in October 2015 when the Boks ran out 23-19 winners. Wales have won just one of their last ten against them now and they have averaged 14 points per game against the Boks in previous meetings, where in return South Africa have averaged 27 points per game. That’s a pretty big average margin of a 12 point difference. You cant area South Africa +5 handicap for a price of even money with Paddy Power.
