Online bookmaker Paddy Power have become the first UK Bookie to incorporate content from the Racing Post into its smart phone app. This is a big coup for the popular bookie, as it gives them a great advantage in the competitive field of horse racing betting. The Racing Post, Britain’s leading newspaper dedicated to horse racing, will be integrating its content directly into the Paddy Power app. With the usage of mobile devices increasing all the time for gambling purposes, Paddy Power stand to gain big from this move.

It means that punters will now be able to get direct access to form and race-cards from the Racing Post, so there will be the independent source of information, not just that coming from the bookie themselves. The Paddy Power application with the upgrade to the new horse racing content is available on Android 2.3 or iOS 5.0 devices. Paddy Power have also given their mobile app a face lift, making it easier to punters to get from point of making a market selection to actually placing the bet. The number of screen taps in between have been reduced.

Paddy Power, one of the first operators, along with Betfair, to launch their app in Apple’s download store are the leaders in mobile betting. Around 49% of Paddy Power’s online customers were using a mobile device to place bets by February 2012. The convenience of mobile betting has led to a 225% turnover in mobile wagers from 2011.
