Football – Scotland – Premiership Betting Tips

The Scottish Premiership has now moved onto the Championship Group and Relegation Group as the league has been split into two; however, the Championship phase now seems totally unnecessary and a purely academic exercise as Celtic hold a 27 point lead over their closest rivals, and tonight’s hosts, Aberdeen.

Aberdeen are on 70 points themselves, and they in turn hold a commanding 18 point cushion over fourth placed St Johnstone, so The Dons look extremely likely to at least grab a Europa League spot for the start of next season, particularly when you consider that the points during the regular season are ‘carried forward’ into the top six Championship round.

Ironically, Aberdeen lost their opening home match of this second phase 2-0 to the aforementioned St Johnstone, and they now host a rampant Celtic at Pittodrie on Friday night, following back-to-back defeats to Rangers and St Johnstone.

Celtic won the Premiership at a canter during the regular season as they racked up a huge 91 points and remained unbeaten throughout the season, and they’ve made a great start, as expected, in the Championship Group as they’ve won both of their top six matches, 5-1 away at Rangers and a 4-1 home win over St Johnstone.

The Hoops face possibly their toughest task in this round with an away match at Aberdeen on Friday night, but having won their last five encounters against The Dons, Celtic will be pretty confident they can keep their momentum going this evening.

Celtic also possess three of the top four goalscorers in the Scottish top flight with the likes of Sinclair, Dembele and Armstrong all hitting double-digit goal tallies during the regular season.
