Spirited Hungary to push the Red Devils

Hungary v Belgium Euro 2016

Hungary v Belgium Betting Preview – Euro 2016, 26th June

This should be a really interesting match up for a shot at the quarter final of Euro 2016. Belgium haven’t looked like a side that has actually played together very much at all and haven’t been overly impressive. Hungary however, will be running on high confidence having produced a great run to top their group ahead of the much-fancied Portugal. Hungary have produced the goals and the spirited displays that may give them plenty of appeal to punters to pull off a shock in the round of sixteen.

At Bet365, place a pre-match bet on the anytime goalscorer, first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score, scorecast or half time/full time markets and you will get your lost stake refunded if the game ends in a 0-0 draw at 90 minutes. Hungary v Belgium Betting Tips

You have to give Hungary a lot of credit for what they have achieved at Euro 2016. They have been one of the more direct, positive sides, particularly as underdogs, in just having gone for broke and target victories. It has paid off with them winning their group and getting a shot at Belgium in the round of sixteen. Hungary opened with a win over Austria (who went down to ten men around the 70th minute mark) and then were the benefactors of an Icelandic own goal in a 1-1 draw with the minnows. Then Hungary took a point from their 3-3 draw against Portugal, a game in which they took the lead three times. Maybe if Portugal had not have had Cristiano Ronaldo to rescue them, the Hungarians may have held out for the win. But the six goals that Hungary scored in the group stage, means that they were joint-top scorers alongside Wales.

You would not have expected that. Balazs Dzsudzsak scored twice against Portugal and he is a 6/1 shot in the anytime goalscorer market with Adam Szalai and Tamas Priskin the shortest priced option at 5/1. That’s big prices on them making a breakthrough. Hungary have actually only won one of their last six games now in a W1 D4 L2 record but they have lost just two of their last fifteen which may make them big value for a draw at 90 minutes in this one. For those who forget, Hungary came through the Euro 2016 qualifying play offs, scoring just eleven goals in their ten qualifying games. This is almost a side unrecognisable to that. So Hungry go into this full of confidence and rightly so. There’s no expectation on them and no pressure really as there are on Belgium. Once again the Belgians have failed to deliver consistency and performances on the big stage. They looked average for the most part in the group stage, only coming to life in a 3-0 win over Ireland.

Belgium don’t have that confidence and swagger that they should have given the amount of quality players that they have in their squad. But it hasn’t quite all come together for them often enough. Romelu Lukaku did score twice against Ireland and he is a 5/4 outright favourite in the anytime goalscorer market with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Divock Origi and Eden Hazard at 2/1 in the same market. Both teams to score in the match at a price of 6/4 has to have some pretty big appeal because Belgium can look a little vulnerable and flat and Hungary aren’t afraid to have a go. Belgium overall may just have enough in the tank to find a way through because they have gone W4 D1 L1 in their last six. Will it be the Belgium who played really poorly against Italy, who were flat and disconnected against Sweden, or positive and deadly against Ireland, which shows up?

Hungary v Belgium Predictions

Belgium are hit and miss and look a side who struggle for confidence and rhythm. You can see Hungary digging in here and really giving the Red Devils a game and there’s probably value in looking at the 90 minute draw in this one and a score draw at that. If it goes to extra time you would bank on the quality of Belgium to win out, but Hungary can make a right go of this in 90.
