So there have been just the three live performances so far in the X Factor and already we have an odds-on favourite rise to the top of the charts. Matt Terry saw his odds tumble again in the market after the weekend and he is now running at an 8/11 price to go on and win the series in December. There’s still some way to go of course, but the 23 year old is dominating, well just about everything X Factor this season.
He has taken around a third of all bets placed on the X Factor winning at Ladbrokes since the weekend and that has left the Bromley boy in a commanding position and it has been such a weight of favouritism on him that Ladbrokes had to go and open a “Without Matt Terry” betting market. There was little movement in the market behind Terry after the weekend, 5 After Midnight holding steady as 9/2 second favourites.
Emily Middlemas has stayed as third favourite but at a big 10/1 price to land the win, with Gifty Luise at 12/1 as fourth favourite. One of the big market movers though since August has been Honey G who got a standing ovation on the weekend, one of only three to do so in this round. Back in August she was a massive 100/1 price to scoop the title, but she is now in at 14/1 to come through the pack.
But no-one can touch the dominance of Matt Terry who looks to have everything pretty much wrapped up. But that could lead to a bit of value at 11/4 on the X Factor winner being the number one Christmas Song this year. Popularity doesn’t come much bigger on a new star than that Matt Terry has pulled in.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Matt’s odds are in free fall, and with a couple of months still to go it’s looking increasingly hard to see anyone else stealing the 2016 crown.”
