It’s a look at Group A next in the Champions League as hosts and joint leaders of the group, Arsenal, take on Ludogorets at The Emirates on Wednesday night with The Gunners looking clear favourites to take the maximum haul this evening on home turf.
Arsenal have hit a purple patch of form in recent weeks as they’ve chalked up six wins on the trot in all competitions including a 2-0 home win over Basel on Matchday 2 along with recent Premier League wins over Chelsea and Burnley along with a 3-2 home win over Swansea City on the weekend.
The Gunners have won three of their last four at home in the Champions League with additional wins against Bayern Munich and Dinamo Zagreb along with the aforementioned victory over Basel. Forwards Walcott and Sanchez look the most likely to score here for the home side.
Visitors Ludogorets registered back-to-back wins on the weekend when they beat OFK Pirin 3-1 away in the Bulgarian First League but they’ll be facing far superior opposition this evening in the English capital when they face an in-form and bouyant Arsenal outfit.
Ludogorets earned a solid point away at Basel in the opening Group A match with a 1-1 draw but then suffered a heavy 3-1 defeat at home to French champions PSG on Matchday 2, so they could be set for the wooden spoon in this group if they don’t pick up points soon.
With just two away wins from their last 12 road trips in the Champions League, this could be a long evening for the Bulgarian outfit as they look to contain this rampant Arsenal side in their own backyard.
