Next up is a top-of-the-group clash in Group A between hosts Arsenal and second placed French outfit Paris Saint-Germain as the two fight it out at the Emirates for the right to top the group.
Arsenal head into this important fixture having earned a point at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League, and with home advantage behind them here this evening, they’ll no doubt fancy their chances of edging ahead of their group rivals to claim an outright top spot position in Group A.
The Gunners have been impressive so far in the Champions League as they’ve secured wins over Basel 2-0 along with home and away wins over Ludogorets in 6-0 and 3-2 wins respectively in what has been a lop-sided group. In addition, Arsenal held PSG to a 1-1 draw in the opening match in Group A back in September.
Onto PSG, and they are level on points with Arsenal having achieved almost the same results as the London club but recording home and away wins over Swiss outfit Basel instead of Ludogorets – wins over Basel 3-0 and 2-1 was preceded by a convincing 3-1 win away at Ludogorets which followed the aforementioned 1-1 draw in Paris with Arsenal.
If there is a point of difference between these two sides here this evening, perhaps Arsenal can point to the fact that the last time the French champions played English opposition away from home, they went down 1-0 at Manchester City.
In addition, their prolific striker Ibrahimovic has since left for Manchester United, so I’m handing my vote to Arsenal with the attractively priced round ball here.
