Back to Group C in the Champions League, and my next pick features the other two teams in this group with hosts and group leaders Barcelona taking on third placed Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona are four points clear of second placed Manchester City as we head into the final Matchday 6 and they’ve won four of their first five group matches having registered wins over Borussia Moenchengladbach, Manchester City and Celtic (home and away).
In addition, the goals have been well and truly flowing for the Spanish giants too as they’ve scored a mammoth total of 15 goals just in these four wins alone, and the goals could well continue this evening given the hosts’ embarrassment of attacking riches at their disposal.
Visitors Borussia Moenchengladbach sit in third place in Group C and they head into tonight’s encounter fairly safe in the knowledge that although they are likely to be sent out of the Champions League competition, they look set for a Europa League spot as their second bite of the cherry.
Gladbach have recorded just one win during this group phase which was a 2-0 away win at Celtic, but although they secured points against Celtic and Manchester City in recent matches, the damage had already been done earlier in the piece after suffering back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Barcelona.
Just two clean sheets in their seven away matches in this competition to date suggests that Tuesday night’s assignment in Barcelona may be a bridge too far for the German club.
