Onto Group C now, and a look at how Scottish champions Celtic are set to fare against the might of the Spanish giants Barcelona when the two teams clash at Celtic Park on Wednesday night as the hosts look to add a bit of respectability to their Champions League campaign.
The hosts have gained just two points from their first four group matches which was courtesy of two stalemates with Manchester City at home in a highly entertaining 3-3 draw and a creditable point in a 1-1 draw away at German club Borussia Moenchengladbach.
However, despite holding home advantage here in this pending clash with Barcelona, they’ll be more than aware of the Spanish club’s attacking riches and will be ecstatic with a point here, but they’ll very likely walk away with nothing.
Rather predictably, Barcelona lead Group C with a two point margin over second placed Manchester City but tonight’s visitors haven’t had it all their way so far in their Champions League campaign as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, but they have scored the most goals in the group so far, and indeed the competition, so you can never ever rule them out.
The attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar are the envy of every football manager in the world, and they’ll no doubt be looking to add to their personal goal tallies here this evening against a much weaker Celtic.
In addition, Barcelona have the added advantage of their opening game 7-0 thrashing of Celtic over their hosts and although it’s likely to be perhaps a closer affair at Celtic Park tonight, Barcelona should easily outscore their opponents.
