Luxembourg home side Dudelang find themselves having to attack pretty much from the kick-off in this evening’s second round second leg Champions League qualifier against Qarabag at their Stade Jos Nosbaum.
F91 Dudelang lost 2-0 at home in last week’s first leg and now have a mountain to climb if they’re to overhaul this two-goal deficit despite holding home advantage. With just one win from their last five matches overall, tonight’s hosts are not in the best of shape to exact revenge on Qarabag who made the most of their home advantage last week.
In addition, Dudelang have lost five of their last six Champions League matches and in their last appearance in this competition a couple of seasons ago, they were bundled out of the competition by Ludogorets who thrashed them 5-1 on aggregate.
Visitors Qarabag, by contrast, have been in a good run of form prior to this second leg as they’ve won a staggering 17 matches from their last 19 played in all competitions, and with a two-goal advantage under their belts in this second round, they look the obvious favourites to progress here.
Qarabag hold a pretty good pedigree at this level too as they’ve lost just twice in their last nine matches overall, which were both away defeats at Salzburg and Celtic respectively. However, both of these aforementioned teams are, with respect, much stronger than Dudelang, and I’m expecting Qarabag to be in the hat for the third round qualifiers.
Qarabag have gained away wins in the Champions League at Valletta and Rudar in previous appearances, and I recommend giving the quarter-ball on them here tonight.
