A rousing night of european football is in prospect in the east midlands tonight when hosts Leicester City take on Spanish outfit Sevilla at the King Power Stadium, with the home side looking to erase a one-goal deficit following a first leg 2-1 defeat in Seville.
The Foxes were handed a lifeline in the Champions League in the first leg when striker Jamie Vardy notched what could be a very important away goal for Leicester, and with the recent uncertainty as to who would be the successor to former manager Claudio Ranieri now sorted out, the home side can fully focus here tonight.
Leicester have registered much needed back-to-back wins domestically in the Premier League with wins over Liverpool and Hull City, and Vardy looks to have his old spark back just in time for tonight’s second leg!
Visitors Sevilla also look in good shape ahead of this vital second leg following a run of eight matches without defeat in all competitions which includes wins over Las Palmas and Real Betis away from home in La Liga as well as the first leg win over Leicester City.
But if you take a look at Sevilla’s performances and results away from home in the Champions League, you’ll notice that the Spaniards have gained just one away win from their last nine on the road, which must surely give Leicester real hope of overturning this 2-1 deficit.
Sevilla do possess some dangerous attacking talent though in their armoury with the likes of Ben Yedder and Vietto up front and a useful midfield unit that includes Nasri, N’Zonzi, Sarabia and Iborra.
I think we’re in for an open, attacking encounter this evening and so I’ll back that both teams find the net this evening.
