The second round of the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship will fire underway on December 22nd, with the big guns still in the hunt. Defending Champion Adrian Lewis had a narrow escape in his first round match, squeezing past Nigel Heydon 3-2 in the defence of his title. It wasn’t very impressive stuff, and whether nerves as defending champion, combined with his penchant for inconsistency will plague him during this run remains to be seen. It wasn’t a convincing kick off from him to say the least. Phil The Power Taylor had no such problems though, breezing past qualifier Haruki Muramatsu in straight sets to book his place in the second round. Strong contender, Scotland’s Gary Anderson starts his run at the final on Tuesday with a match against Jyhan Artut. Anderson was last year’s losing finalist against Lewis, and has to be hungry to get back there and get his hands on the title. The biggest upset of the competition so far was England’s James Richardson crushing Raymond van Barneveld 3-0 in the first round. The big Dutchman was all full of talk, saying how he was getting back into his top form and was ready to gun for Phil Taylor in the draw. Well, that’s all over with, and is one challenger down for Phil Taylor.

The second round of the 2012 PDC Darts World Championship betting runs from December 22nd to the 28th, and it is that man Phil Taylor who is still commanding everything and is still the man to beat. He is the man that the bookies fear the most as well, and why he remains so short as outright favourite. Really can’t see anything stopping Taylor on a run at the title here at the moment, and really should be a certain for a quarter final place at the very least, and then we’ll take our darts betting from there.
