Today’s horse racing tips take on a change of pace from recent action as all of the day’s selections are from National Hunt.

It is Bangor and Fontwell that are being visited for Tuesday’s racing action. It’s picks from both hurdling and chasing that we make.

So here are the best of today’s horse racing tips for Tuesday, 23rd August 2022.

Race Preview

NORTHERN BOUND was a winner on his penultimate run, but that is a notable piece of form from him.

That was because it was a course and distance victory in June in a chase.

Northern Bound was switched to the hurdles last time out and took a fourth-place finish at Worcester.

Coming back to chasing on Tuesday, Northern Bound has big claims. He is weighted to go well at Bangor and should be heavily involved.

FAT SAM makes a return to the fences as well and can’t be dismissed for this competitive small field.

Last season Fat Sam took three wins from eight runs. He’s been in a good mood this term, winning two of five.

After a decent spin over the timbers six days ago, Fat Sam could get himself into the picture.

YCCS PORTOCERVO hasn’t been seen at top form for a while now, but a sliding mark has to give him a big chance sooner rather than later.

He took a tumble in a handicap chase last time out. Yccs Portocervo has performed much better than he has done this year.

A bounce-back could give him place claims.

Race Preview

FENNA’S LOSS has been thriving recently and only just missed out on the completion of a hattrick a month ago.

He was third in a novice event at Perth. That followed up some excellent early hurdles.

Fenna’s Loss demands respect coming into handicapping for the first time.

SEABOROUGH was a third-place finisher last time out when he looked much better for a drop to a competitive mark.

The winless streak for Seaborough goes back to 2019. But he did show some encouraging signs last time out so is worth a look.

COURTANDBOULD can’t be overlooked for this effort after moving to Dan Skelton in hopes of a revival.

There’s a 5lb claimer on Courtandbould as well, plus he’s had a wind operation.

So that could all add up to a positive. Having slipped down the weights, he could come good.

GO ON CHEZ is a former course and distance winner and recently produced a five-timer effort.

So he’s been in a very good mood. On his latest run, Go On Chez finished third at Uttoxeter a month ago.

He didn’t have the staying power on a longer 3m 2f contest. The drop back to the 3m clearly gets him in the frame.

FLYING VERSE did come up with a good performance 25 days ago when he went close in a handicap chase at Stratford.

That runners-up finish could give the veteran something to build on. Flying Verse was a winner of this race 12 months ago.

RED HAPPY looks to be the best of the rest in this contest, especially if he can tap into his form from last season.

Last term he won three of eight runs. The latest win for Red Happy was at Exeter in April.

He wasn’t particularly sharp at Worcester six days ago. A challenge for the places could be on the cards though.

17:30 Fontwell Handicap Hurdle Horse Racing Tip

HERONORD comes back to handicapping on Tuesday and he looks to be on a good mark for it too.

He was a runner-up in a novice hurdle at Newton Abbot on his latest effort. A good 7lb claimer gives him an extra boost.

ALRAMZ is 3lb above his winning mark, and he could be a big player in this one. He is 1lb up from his last effort.

That was a third-place finish in a handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot. Alramz has been recharged for 53 days and has big claims.

MAKTHECAT was nowhere near in the frame when on show in a Uttoxeter novice 30 days ago.

He comes into handicapping for the first time and piques some interest. Makthecat won a seller on his penultimate run and is a contender.

18:30 Fontwell Handicap Hurdle Horse Racing Tip

Race Type: Class 4
Age: 3-year-olds plus

Race Preview

SOUL ICON has been away for 69 days but he looks the one to beat in this 3-runner handicap hurdle on Tuesday.

He has won four of his last five efforts and is seeking a hat-trick on Tuesday.

Soul Icon has been thriving since moving to the handicap scene.

QUICKBUCK is seeking a huge revival with nothing having gone right for Nicky Henderson’s charge this season.

He has pulled up in both efforts this season.

That is a huge disappointment after he closed out the last term with a victory at Ffos Las.

GENUFLECT is likely the one that will give the favourite the most to think about in this one.

He has failed to win any contest since October last year. But he looks to be on a workable enough mark.

VIKING RUBY should be in the frame in this one as she has had a nice run of consistent performances.

She was third at Uttoxeter on her latest effort.

That was just a little short at the end from her. Viking Ruby is up 3lb and she could benefit from a 7lb claimer.

RUBY’S REWARD scored at course and distance back in the spring, and she is currently 5lb above that winning mark.

There hasn’t been the expected follow-up from her in two following efforts since that win.

But Ruby’s Reward comes in after a wind op which could see her perked up.

PRESENTING YEATS has to be a player in this one as he is another that has been consistent.

He’s not always easy to catch right in attitude. But there was an encouraging sign from him with a third at Stratford recently.
