Chelsea v Hull Betting Preview – Premier League 22nd January 4.30pm

The Blues will probably be one of the weekend bankers for punters. The Blues showed no sign of panic or distress after their recent loss against Spurs in the top flight and with their issues with Diego Costa. The Blues should be comfortable on home soil against the relegation-threatened Hull. The Tigers landed a much needed win last weekend in taking down Bournemouth but now they face Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in their next four league games and could be in serious trouble after this sequence.

Chelsea v Hull Betting Tips

Chelsea will take plenty of backing for their Sunday fixture at Stamford Bridge against Hull. Chelsea suffered that recent defeat against Spurs at the start of the new year, but they haven’t skipped a beat since then. They went to reigning Premier League champions Leicester and fired off a comfortable 3-0 win last weekend and now they face the relegation-threatened Tigers back in London. Chelsea have won their last three home games against Hull in all competitions and Chelsea have netted exactly two goals in each of those. A Chelsea 2-0 correct score at BetVictor is running at a tempting price of 11/2 and that has been the result in the last two between them at the Bridge. Chelsea have been firing on all cylinders at home, having won their last seven Premier League home games now and five of those seven have been with a clean sheet as well. Six of those seven have gone over the 2.5 goal line as well.

Over 2.5 goals at BetVictor for this match up is a price of 8/15 and 90% of Chelsea’s home games this season in the English top flight have gone over. Chelsea are unbeaten in their previous nine Premier League match ups against the Tigers (W7 D2) and there have been six clean sheets for the Blues in that sequence. Diego Costa could be back for this one and he has scored in all three of his previous Premier League games against the Tigers. He is a 4/9 anytime goalscorer option, while Eden Hazard and Pedro are good value around the even money mark. Hazard has scored three and assisted another in his last four Premier League games against Hull. Chelsea have scored at least three goals in all but one of their last four Premier League games and they have averaged 2.8 goals per game at Stamford Bridge this season, conceding just the six goals.

The Tigers can’t get out of the Premier League drop zone, but a point could see them do it this weekend if they can get one and Crystal Palace lose. New boss Marco Silva got the Tigers to show a bit of bite last weekend as they beat Bournemouth 3-1 at the KCom. However, this is a rough time for Hull because they have a terrible run of fixtures. After facing Chelsea on the weekend, they then go and face Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal in their following three matches. So their relegation issues could be heightened after that sequence of games. The Tigers have recorded a W1 D1 L8 record out on the road this season in the top flight and they have lost their last eight out on the road as well. In total they have scored one goal only in their last six away games and in total have only managed six goals on the road this season. Hull have kept just one clean sheet this season in the Premier League, back in August against Swansea and their last league win over Chelsea came in the old second division, winning 3-0 at Boothferry Park in October 1988. Abel Hernandez is a 4/1 anytime goalscorer option for them following his brace against Bournemouth last weekend.

Chelsea v Hull Predictions

This should be a routine game for Antonio Conte’s men then. They dealt with Leicester out on the road easily enough last weekend to suggest that they can go and win this one to nil as well. The Tigers showed some teeth last week but are likely to slip to their fourth defeat on the bounce at Stamford Bridge. A Chelsea 2-0 correct score has stacks of appeal.
