Leicester v Manchester City Betting Preview – Premier League 10th December

Big game at the King Power to round off Saturday’s top flight action with. This will be really interesting to see how Manchester City respond to their 3-1 defeat against Chelsea last weekend on home soil. That was a massive blow to them and of course they have lost the services of main man Sergio Aguero who picked up his second red card of the season. So will Leicester, who held out to a 0-0 draw in this fixture last season, be able to push the Citizens hard. Maximum points would be hugely welcome for Leicester too as their poor title defence sees them sitting just above the drop zone.

Leicester v Manchester City Betting Tips

It’s been pretty hard to read reigning Premier League champions Leicester this season. The Foxes have gone W3 D4 L7 for the term and are unrecognisable in their consistency and intensity from last season. The Foxes are currently battling through a five match winless streak and they have triumphed in just one of their last nine league fixtures now. They have remained fairly solid on home soil having lost just the one game there in a W3 D3 L1 record, so their strengths are clearly intact at the King Power. Leicester have scored in all but two of their home games this season. They did have a game at Porto in the Champions League but they made ten changes for that one from their Premier League game last weekend. They lost 5-0 in a shocking performance. Manager Claudio Ranieri has won seven of eight previous Premier League games against Man City (D1). With them going into this one just two points above the drop zone, they would love more points against City.

They took four points off the Citizens last season including a draw at home against them last term. Jamie Vardy has failed to be a Premier League goal against the Citizens and he is up as a 15/8 option in the  Bet365 anytime goalscorer market. He just isn’t getting the supply from Riyad Mahrez that he was last term. Riyad Mahrez created 22 chances for him last season, but has received just one this term. Mahrez, at 3/1 in the anytime goalscorer market is likely to have more appeal because of him taking free kicks and penalties. The Foxes have won just one of their last four at home and are without a clean sheet in any of their last three at the King Power. Both teams to score at bookmaker Bet365 will return a price of 4/5.

As much as this will be a test for Leicester to try and get some momentum going, it will be a test of Man City’s mettle too. They lost a high profile home game against Chelsea last weekend and had Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero sent off. Aguero will be missing for four games now for his horror lunge at David Luiz. How will that affect City over the busy December month of action? Well in the last five Premier League games that Aguero has missed, Kelechi Iheanacho has managed to score five goals and he is going off as 20/21 favourite in the anytime goalscorer market for this one. You can’t fault City’s away form this season as they have gone W6 D0 L1 in the top flight and are on a three match winning streak away from home. They have only taken one clean sheet though and over 2.5 goals in this fixture at Bet365 will return a price of 7/10 which has to be worth a flutter.

So for Pep Guardiola, this will be his lowest points tally after 14 games of a top-flight season as a manager (30). The Citizens have won their last six games played against the reigning Premier League champions, last losing to Chelsea back in March 2011, so that is a good streak. The Citizens have away from as well against Leicester in the Premier League, not having lost any of their previous five trips to face the Foxes. So can they start rebuilding after that big loss against Chelsea? They have two matches before running into their next big test in taking on Arsenal on December 18th. But with only a W3 D3 L2 record in their last eight games, there clearly is plenty of room for improvement still and they can’t put all of their hopes on the January transfer window for that. A Man City 2-1 correct score is an 8/1 price and the Citizens have won their last two away games by that result.

Leicester v Manchester City Predictions

So a heavy defeat last weekend for City and the loss of Sergio Aguero for four matches. Tough game for them and this isn’t the easiest of games for them either as Leicester can be a stubborn bunch on home soil and the Foxes have lost just one game at home in the league this season. The Foxes though aren’t where they were at last season when they held the Citizens to a draw, and even without the craft of Aguero, City should be good value to go and sneak this one by a one goal margin and nothing more. They need it.
