Scotland v Slovenia Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 Qualifiers 26th March – Kick Off 6.45pm

This is something of a must-win game for Scotland. They trail second-placed Slovenia by a big four points already going into this one and if that gap was to extend out to seven points, then there would be a huge challenge ahead for Scotland to make it to Russia 2018. It is already looking very difficult for them after a sluggish start and a friendly draw at home against minnows Canada in the week didn’t exactly boost confidence. Slovenia are unbeaten so far in their four qualification games and they probably won’t be fearing a trip to Scotland in this one.

Scotland v Slovenia Betting Tips

Well, Scotland really needs to pull out a big performance on home soil on Sunday in World Cup 2018 qualifying. This is in Group F of qualifying, where Scotland are six points behind group leaders England and four back of second-placed Slovenia. So they really need to land themselves three points in this one as a defeat would be devastating for them. Scotland have played one home game in World Cup 2018 qualifying so far and that ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Lithuania. In the Bet365 correct score market for this one, a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 Scotland result are joint 5/1 favourite options. There looks to be some pretty good value at 6/4 on the game going under 1.5 goals in this one because goals are likely going to be at a premium. Over 2.5 goals is a 1/2 option. Scotland haven’t won any of their last three competitive home games and could only manage a 1-1 draw with Canada in midweek in a friendly at home. They just don’t look sharp at the moment and have conceded against Malta, Canada and Lithuania in recent games. Steven Fletcher, Chris Martin and Jordan Rhodes are 21/10 joint anytime goalscorer favourites. Robert Snodgrass is top scorer with three goals for them and is a 3/1 option.

Scotland and Slovenia have met in just two previous games. Those were back in World Cup 2006 qualifying and the Scots came away with four points from the two games, but they only managed a 0-0 draw at home against them. Slovenia are unbeaten in Group F with a W2 D2 record as it stands and they have conceded just the two goals (compared to 8 by Scotland). They have played two games away from home, landing a 2-2 draw with Lithuania and a 1-0 win over Malta. So they haven’t been firing on all cylinders and they are not a particularly huge attacking threat at all. They have averaged a goal per game in qualifying so far and even Scotland have topped that. It is just another clue that this is likely to be a low-scoring contest. Slovenia have taken a clean sheet in three of their four qualifying games so far and they are 4/1 at Bet365 to win to nil. They probably wouldn’t be too unhappy with a point out on the road and they are the only ones to have stopped England winning in the group so far in a 0-0 draw against the Three Lions. Their four goals in qualifying have come through four different players.

Scotland v Slovenia Predictions

Slovenia away win: Scotland look just a little bit jaded at the moment and that may allow Slovenia to sneak in. The Slovenians are unbeaten in their last six games home and away and are a tough side to break down as England found out in a 0-0 draw with them. It wouldn’t take much to see them sneak a goal past the Scots who are without a clean sheet in six games.
