Halep to string new winning streak together?

Tennis Betting

The Dubai Open this week will be without both Serena Williams and Eugenie Bouchard, so your WTA tennis betting is being headed up by young Romanian Simona Halep, who is 3/1 favourite at online betting site Paddy Power to launch an assault at the title. This is one of the Premier events on the tour with a huge prize purse on the line.

Seven of the world’s top ten are out in action and.this week and it should be pretty interesting to watch just how Halep goes. She blitzed her way to nine wins from nine matches to open the season with, but then reached unexpectedly against Ekaterina Makarova in the quarter finals of the Australian Open and then slumped to a Fed Cup defeat against Garine Muguruza. Reason to run away and desert her?

No. She is full of grit and you aren’t going to find anyone more determined to get a win on the board this week than Halep. She goes as top seed and she could run into Makarova again in the quarterfinals of the competitions with Caroline Wozniacki or Angelique Kerber the most likely to be semi final opposition for Halep. So a decent chance in the field here for Halep to get back to winning ways and if she starts picking up quick momentum there is going to be reason why she can’t deliver solid each way value.

Petra Kvitova is the one to watch behind her though, going off in the opposite half of the field. Kvitova is a 6/1 quote for the title, but it may be worth waiting to see if she can get past her first match though. Kvitova, the 2013 Dubai winner has lost in the first round in three of her last four appearances here. The time that she didn’t she went on to lift the title. Wozniacki is another former winner in the field, not having been out since the Australian Open second round.

So what about reigning champion Venus williams? She has put up a tremendous 11-1 record for 2015 and she has tournament history on her side in Dubai. Williams has won the title on each of her last three appearances at the tournament, which puts her on a fifteen match winning streak in Dubai. She has only lost just the one set in that run as well, and that was against her sister in the 2009 semi finals. Williams is one of the hottest players on the WTA at the moment for form, and may have appeal out at 14/1 for punters.
