They go up against Canada, Nigeria and France in Group A. It looks as if their closest challengers will come from Brazil who head up Group D. The Brazilians have some great individual talent and flair in their side, and with the easiest group draw of the favourites, they will be in the knockout stage. The USA, who are always in the running as they are very strong. The USA play good open attacking football and are able to turn in some very powerful performances. But they have landed themselves in the Group of Death, along with Sweden and the dangerous North Koreans. Group C is easily the most competitive of them, and that leaves England with a good chance of qualifying from Group B. England being their group campaign against Mexico, but face tricky matches against Japan and New Zealand. But Hope Powell’s women are being tipped as a good contender for the title. But Germany Women are the main targets for everyone at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, betting sees them currently lading the way as very strong favourites. Can the flair of Brazil or the power of the USA stop the Germans from collecting their third consecutive World Cup? FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 – Schedule, Results and Table:

Group A Germany, France, Canada, Nigeria The Germans really have nothing to lose and captain Birgit Prinz, regarded as one of the best players in the history of the women’s game, will be the focus of attention for the home nation. They are a supremely strong team and should be able to take this group at a canter. They recently totally overwhelmed both Canada and Nigeria in friendly matches, and much of the same should be forthcoming. For your Germany 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup betting the host nation really do make the strongest bet. They will cope alright with the added pressure of being on home turf. Don’t worry about that, it won’t be a factor, as they will deliver. They have all the momentum and confidence and do look pretty much untouchable. They have such quality with the all time leading Women’s World Cup goal scorer in Birgit Prinz (14 goals in 22 World Cup matches) and other familiar names such as Inka Grings and Ariane Hingst. The French did show a lot of potential throughout their qualification campaign, playing some confident and slick football. Whether on the day they will be able to get the better of the Germans to top the group, is a different matter. Both Canada and Nigeria will provide some solid World Cup experience, but nothing on the level of the two teams here.

Crunch Game: France v Germany, July 5th – This should be the group decider really. Both teams should beat the others, and so top spot in the group could come down to this. Group A Winner Betting Odds: Germany 1/20, France 12/1, Canada 14/1, Nigeria 66/1 all at Paddy Power

Group B England, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand Hope Powell’s England do have injury worries ahead of their World Cup campaign, but they showed great competency in qualification, where they dropped only two points, and were pretty free scoring. They came through qualification with great aplomb really, never under any great pressure, and comfortably played their way through the qualification play off to reach the finals against Switzerland. They proved that they can handle the pressure. England will remain just on the outside of the favourites for Germany 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup betting because of the strength of Germany, USA and Brazil. But England have landed a decent group stage draw and will be in with a good chance here. They should top their group and they will be desperately keen to have another crack at Germany, the nation who beat them in the final of the 2009 UEFA Women’s European Championships. England are a pretty strong outfit, and they start their group campaign against Mexico on June 27th. Their toughest challenge will probably come from Japan in their second fixture, with the Asian being the hot tip to cause some upsets. England and Japan will be favourites to get through here, with Mexico and New Zealand doing what they can to upset the order. Neither of those can be taken for granted, as Mexico did beat the USA in qualification. Crunch Match: England v Japan, June 5th – This should have a huge bearing on the winner of the group. If both win their openers, the winner of this one will take a huge amount of pressure of themselves. Japan are the highest ranked team in Group B. It is important win this group, because the runner up will probably play Germany in the Quarter Finals. Group Winner Betting Odds: Japan 11/13, England 7/5, Mexico 10/1, New Zealand 14/1 all at Bwin

Group C USA, Sweden, Korea DPR, Colombia Definitely the Group of Death at Germany 2011. Not only do you have the dangerous North Koreans here, but you have the tough Swedish as well, always a very competent and strong side. On top of that, the USA are also participating in Group C and will bring their inevitable power and pace. The USA are the world’s top ranked side and have been for the last three years. They have won the World Cup twice before in their history, and are also double Olympic champions. They crushed England 3-0 at the quarter final stage of last year’s tournament, but they just could not go all the way, but they are back, gunning hard for their third title. They have never finished outside of the top four at a Women’s World Cup. Had a hiccup in qualification when they were defeated by Mexico in the semi finals, and then had to play Italy in a final play off to reach the finals. The USA do have a strong batch of young players coming through the ranks, so look for lots of  high energy games. The USA have lost only two games in 66 matches since 2007, winning 58 of those. Sweden are always a tough side to play against, and they have been one of the nations on top of the Women’s world game for years. It is going to be a tight scrap with North Korea to get through here. These are three of the best nations in the women’s game. Colombia will be the outsiders in the tournament as they are making their first ever entry into the tournament. Should be a great titanic battle all the way in this group. Crunch Match: Korea DPR v Sweden, June 2nd – This is the big one of the group, because even though USA had that slip up during qualification, they are still favourites to win the group. So the extra qualification spot will come down to these two. Will have a huge bearing on the group this one, even though there are other great matches on the cards here, like Sweden v USA. Should be a great group. Group Winner Betting Odds: USA 4/6, Sweden 13/8, Korea DPR 7/1, Colombia 50/1 all at William Hill

Group D Brazil, Norway, Australia, Equatorial Guinea Brazil will bring their South American flair to the tournament, and they are one of the front runners in Germany 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup betting. The Brazilians will bring their exciting brand of football over to Europe and they have landed a great draw in the group stage. They go up against the battling Norwegians and Australians for supremacy in Group D. Realistically you would back Brazil to get through here, because they bring great individual talent to the tournament as well as a team. Australia will always have a good go at thing, but it is perhaps Norway who will put up the toughest competition for Brazil, with Equatorial Guinea making up the numbers in the group. The winner of this group will play the runner up from Group C which is the Group of Death, so still a hard road ahead for Brazil. Crunch Match: Australia v Norway, July 6th – Can see second place in the group coming down to this match. Player To Watch: Birgit Prinz, Germany. She is a legend, and at 33 keeps going strong in leading the most dangerous front line in the tournament. Worth backing her as top scorer in the tournament, because her record just speaks for itself. 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup Betting Tip: Germany are definitely the team to beat here. They are so powerful and slick, and with star player Birgit Prinz grabbing highights, they will take some stopping Prinz has netted 14 goals in 22 games for her country at World Cups, and she is the highest scorer in history. The pressure is on Germany to perform, and extra pressure will on them because they are on their home turf. You just can’t see any place in which they can slip up at the moment. If it comes down to picking an outsider, then the USA will be your best bet for your 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup betting. The USA do have some aces up their sleeve and they are just adventurous and tough enough to battle all the way.  It has to be Germany all the way. The backbone of the squad has just been in place for so long, they have continuity on their side. No other team in the tournament can match the power of Germany’s front line. They have such high quality goalkeeping and defence as well, it is tough to see anyone touching them if they are at their best.

Germany 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Best Outside Betting Tip: England, ninth in the FIFA World Rankings will be a threat. With more and more investment going into the women’s game, England are only getting stronger. They are a very strong and capable side, and they can go all the way here. Unbeaten in qualification, on a run of 10 unbeaten matches, and the blend of the squad is just about right, with youth of players playing their first major tournament, mixing with experience. Watch out for Kelly Smith, who just keeps going for her country up front. This is on the third time England have been in the Women’s World Cup, and on those previous two occasions, they lost out in the quarter final stage.
