Of the two, Hamilton has been the better player this season, but despite their wins last week, neither were really scoring too heavily. Hamilton has won the last two in a row now, including the big win over Phil Taylor. Lewis has just started to find some momentum though with two wins and a draw in the last three week. Should be a close match, but would just edge Lewis as he has the better scoring power.

Simon Whitlock v Robert Thornton
Australia’s Whitlock remains patchy for the season and took one on the chin last week against Andy Hamilton after a back to back wins in the league. It has kept him floating around in the danger zone and won’t want to lose again because relegation spots are right over his shoulder. Thornton is only one point better off than Whitlock is heading into the action in Glasgow this week. Thornton had a pretty solid start to the new season but has just slumped a little bit without a win in his last three. A tough match to call this week, but Thornton perhaps has just been the stronger of the two and some good value this week for the win.

Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld
The clash of the week between the two heavyweights. Phil Taylor bounced back to form last week with a big win over Wes Newton. That was much needed as Taylor had lost the previous two, something which hadn’t happened to him in the Premier League of Darts before. Was back to his usual best in Cardiff though and that should carry forward to a duel with Barneveld. Taylor has historically dominated the Dutchman, but this will be interesting this week because Barny has been in great form. Barneveld has lost just the one match all season and is level on points at the top of the league with Michael van Gerwen. Taylor just has the higher three dart average of the two, and a win would put him level with the Dutchman. Would still favour Taylor.

Gary Anderson v Wes Newton
Scotland’s Gary Anderson is floundering in the relegation zone after taking an absolute hammering last week. He was thumped 7-1 by Michael van Gerwen in Cardiff and could be in trouble if he loses this week. This is the relegation battle though against Newton, who has posted just one win all season. A win for Newton, who has been looking a little lost in the competition, would put him level on five points with Anderson, with then just one more match to try and pull themselves clear of dropping out of the season. Would edge things slightly to Anderson in this relegation battle, he has more scoring power, even if consistency hasn’t been there. Both were heavy losers last week, massive points at stake.

Michael van Gerwen v James Wade
Table topping Van Gerwen, who hammered Gary Anderson 7-1 last week in Cardiff will look to keep momentum going in what has been an impressive first season in the Premier League of Darts for him.That’s two wins on the bounce for him now, and he is level with Barneveld on points at the top of the league. Big match again for James Wade who took a draw against Barneveld last week. The Englishman has been good this season and has been looking fairly strong and has only lost one of his last five now. Should be tight, but the overall power of Van Gerwen shouldn’t be ignored, his higher three dart average should just get him to the finish line.
