Man City V Ajax Champions League
Roberto Mancini’s men will be looking for some home comforts on Tuesday night as they try and salvage their Champions League campaign. The Premier League Champions are flailing at the bottom of Group D with just one point on the board from a home draw against German champions Dortmund. A win is needed now by the English champions to keep their hopes alive and leap frog Ajax into third spot.

Man City v Ajax Champions League Betting Odds at online bookmaker Bet365:
Man City 2/5, Draw 15/4, Ajax 13/2

Verdict:
City at least have a decent run of European form to bank on as they go in search of a vitally important win. They have won fourteen and drawn four of their last 18 European matches at home. So that suggests that they can get the points on the board which they need. This is only the third time that City have faced Dutch opposition at home, previously beating FC Twente twice. City could only manage a 0-0 draw, their first since early in the year in the Premier League on Saturday as they were frustrated by West Ham. City are just not going as strongly as they could be up front, they are lacking just a bit of fluency and potency. They wasted a lot of good chances against the Hammers to take all the points. Ajax meanwhile will be taking great heart from their win on Match Day Three against Man City and the home side need to be wary as the Dutch outfit beat Manchester United at Old Trafford last season in the Europa League. Ajax were just more savvy tactically and were just much sharper that City in the first meeting. If they bring that same attacking enterprise on the break to the Etihad, with City having to push forward, they may get their chance. But because this looks a make or break game for Roberto Mancini’s men, a Man City -1.75 Asian Handicap for a price of 6/4 at online bookmaker Bet365 looks good.

Man City v Ajax Betting Preview:
City need to rattle off a big win here, everyone knows the scenario. City just have lost some of the sharpness and swagger that they had about them last season. At least Roberto Mancini can just select a positive side and go for the win on home soil here. The forward lines just haven’t been clicking as well this season, with Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez struggling for goals this season. City managed to just salvage a point with a late Balotelli penalty in their previous home match in Group D against Dortmund. How crucial will that strike be in the long run? This is their big chance to get some momentum going because even with a win here they will have two massive games to come against the German and Spanish Champions. Still a big hill to climb, so one step at a time.

Ajax triumphed at Old Trafford last season in the Europa League, a fantastic win which showed their enterprise and quality. Striker Christian Eriksen looks a class above and will be crucial to them creating things on the break. Ajax don’t have a great history in England, which could favour City. Their break through against United last season was their first win in 40 years against an English side in Europe. Ajax’s form isn’t great this season in their domestic league, winning just four of their eleven matches and not picking up a win in any of their last four. They were defeated on the weekend, so this could be the perfect time for City to strike out and get some revenge.
