UEFA Champions League Odds: The draw for the first knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League was made on Monday.

It was done twice because of a technical error the first time around.

But the draw is all settled and now the sixteen participating teams know what they are going to be up against when the competition resumes in February.

In this UEFA Champions League Odds preview, we look at what the draw has thrown together.

Atletico Madrid v Man Utd

Reigning Spanish champions Atletico Madrid finished runner up in their group. It was a tough one for them, facing Liverpool, Porto and AC Milan.

It hasn’t been a great season for Atletico overall, not even on the domestic front. The Spaniards bowed out at this stage of last seasons’ campaign against Chelsea.

Still, Diego Simeone’s men can’t be counted out. They will fight.

Manchester United did win their group, but it wasn’t without some struggles. The arrival of Ralf Rangnick should give them a firmer footing.

This is basically a tie between two teams who should be doing a lot better by their own standards.

To Qualify Odds: Man Utd 8/13, Atletico Madrid 6/5

Benfica v Ajax

Ajax have been rampant in Europe this season and are the red-hot favourites to get through this Round of 16 tie in UEFA Champions League odds.

The Dutch giants won all six group stage matches, scoring 20 goals in the process. They are extremely attack-minded and will probably have too much for Group E runners up Benfica.

The Portuguese side played their part in eliminating a very poor Barcelona, but with a W2 D2 L2 group record themself, the Eagles don’t look a major threat.

To Qualify Odds: Benfica 3/1, Ajax 1/3

Chelsea v Lille

Reigning champions Chelsea should be cautiously optimistic having received arguably the best draw that they could have gotten.

The Blues face up to French champions Lille in the Round of 16 and the Blues are odds-on favourites in Champions League betting to get through.

The two clubs met in the group stage of the 2019/20 Champions League, Chelsea winning both matches 2-1.

The Blues couldn’t beat Juventus to a group win this season, while Lille posted a W3 D2 L1 to top their section.

To Qualify Odds: Chelsea 1/4, Lille 16/5

Bet at Bet365

FC Salzburg v Bayern Munich

No team in Monday’s draw would have wanted to come out against Bayern Munich. FC Salzburg got that particular short straw.

The Austrians were runners-up in Group G, just about hanging in there. They are a good young team with a young manager. B

ut they have to try and find a way to deal with one of the tournament favourites.

Bayern Munich won all six group stage matches, tallying 22 goals. They are looking for their seventh European Cup/Champions League title. They look like major contenders for the crown.

To Qualify Odds: FC Salzburg 15/2, Bayern Munich 1/6

Inter Milan v Liverpool

Liverpool were on cruise control through their group stage campaign, winning all six matches.

It wasn’t the easiest of groups either, having to face AC Milan and Atletico Madrid during the campaign. But the Reds showed their class and at times, mettle.

They face more Italian opposition in the Round of Sixteen.

Liverpool hold a 3-1 head to head lead against Inter, meeting them for the first time since 2008.

Inter finished runners up in their group to Real Madrid. Inter were extremely wasteful in front of the goal.

The Nerazzurri play more of an attacking game these days but look short of the quality needed to take down Liverpool.

To Qualify Odds: Inter Milan 16/5, Liverpool 2/9

Bet at Bet365

PSG v Real Madrid

In the first failed draw for the UEFA Champions League, PSG were drawn against Manchester United. The redraw gave them a much tougher task as they were paired with Real Madrid.

This is the blockbuster tie of the round.

PSG finished behind Manchester City in the group stage, but have a star-studded line up including Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid topped their section and they do appear to be growing in strength over the season under Carlo Ancelotti. The Spaniards are not to be written off.

PSG and Real Madrid went at it in the group stage of the 2019/20 season with the Parisians taking four points from the two matches. T

he overall head to head between the two clubs is in Real Madrid’s favour at W3 D2 L1.

To Qualify Odds: PSG 3/4, Real Madrid 6/5

Bet at Bet365

Sporting v Man City

With the Citizens currently as the outright favourites in Champions League betting, Pep Guardiola’s men will be expected to cruise through this tie.

It is a favourable one for them after winning their group. It was far from a perfect group stage campaign with a W4 D2 record.

But the Citizens should have this well within their scope.

Sporting finished runner up in their group and it’s a good young side who fought back well after some early struggles in their group.

Still, the Portuguese side have a tough task on their hands here.

To Qualify Odds: Sporting 9/1, Man City 1/6

Bet at Bet365

Villarreal v Juventus

This could be one of the most tightly contested ties in the UEFA Champions League Round of Sixteen this season.

Villarreal are a bit of a goal-shy team, but they managed to squeeze through their group behind Manchester United this season.

The Yellow Submarine, who are the reigning Europa League champions, played some good stuff in the group stage but fell short in front of goal.

Juventus defied some underdog odds to top their group ahead of Chelsea with a W5 L1 record.

Head coach Massimiliano Allegri has a decent squad in place, but the Bianconeri will face a tough challenge in this one.

To Qualify Odds: Villarreal 9/5, Juventus 1/2
