When and where is the UEFA Champions League Final?

This year’s Champions League Final was originally scheduled to be played in Turkey. But because of travel restrictions, UEFA moved the game to Porto.

The game at the Estadio do Dragao for May 29th will have a kick-off time of 8 pm.

Man City – The Road To The Final

Manchester City had an easy time of things in the group stage of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

They won Group C at a canter with a W5 D1 record. During that group stage campaign, they faced FC Porto.

Therefore, Manchester City have already played a fixture at the Estadio do Dragao in this campaign. City played out a 0-0 draw there against Porto on matchday five.

In the round of sixteen and then the quarter-finals, Pep Guardiola’s men were up against German opposition in the UEFA Champions League.

They cruised to a 4-0 aggregate win over Borussia Monchengladbach first before seeing off Borussia Dortmund 4-2.

That put them through to what could have been a tricky and testing semi-final tie against last season’s runners-up PSG.

But Manchester City got everything tactically right over the two legs and carded a 4-1 aggregate victory.

So they have settled their ties emphatically at the end of the day.

City’s top scorers in this season’s Champions League are Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres with four each.

Chelsea – The Road To The Final

Chelsea were winners of their group in the first stage of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

They were in Group E and took a W4 D2 record in a section that contained Sevilla, Krasnodar and Rennes.

At the end of the day, it was a comfortable draw that the Londoners received in the group stage.

They have arguably had a much tougher route to the UEFA Champions League Final than Manchester City have had.

In the round of sixteen, they were up against Atletico Madrid, who would go on to win this season’s La Liga title.

Chelsea produced two superb performances under Thomas Tuchel to collect a 3-0 aggregate win.

Then they faced Porto in the quarter-finals but that was a tie that was hosted in Seville. So the Blues didn’t get to play at the venue of this season’s Final.

After a 2-1 aggregate win over Porto, Chelsea were through to the semi-final against Real Madrid.

The Blues put on a masterclass over the two legs, outclassing their Spanish counterparts in a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Olivier Giroud is Chelsea’s top scorer this season in the UEFA Champions League with six goals.

Chelsea Record: W8 D3 L1 F22 A4

Man City odds-on favourites for the UEFA Champions League Final

Not only do Manchester City have immense scoring power in them, but they have also added a lot of defensive strengths this season.

The Citizens have conceded just four goals in this campaign as they search for their first Champions League title.

Man City are 5/6 odds-on in UEFA Champions League Final betting* (odds recorded at 03:40 GMT on May 27th 2021 at Bet365).

Will those two big factors, along with a lot of self-belief having gotten past the semifinals for the first time, push Pep Guardiola’s men all the way?

Can Chelsea defy underdog odds in UEFA Champions League Final?

Chelsea are 18/5 underdogs in UEFA Champions League Final betting* (odds recorded at 03:40 GMT on May 27th 2021 at Bet365).

The Blues have been rejuvenated since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel who took over mid-season from Frank Lampard.

He has done a brilliant job with the Blues and their semi-final performances against Real Madrid were highly impressive.

Can they go a step further and win the Champions League for the second time in their history?

For all of the big attention that Man City’s improved defence has taken, Chelsea too have only conceded four goals this season on the road to the Final.

They claimed their first with a penalty shootout win over Bayern Munich in 2012 on what was their second appearance in the UEFA Champions League Final.

Man City v Chelsea Head To Head

What is interesting about this fixture is the results between the two teams this season.

Manchester City cruised to a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge in the first league meeting of the season.

But under Thomas Tuchel, things have been different for the Blues since then.

They claimed an FA Cup victory over the Citizens, before claiming victory over them just a few weeks later back in the Premier League.

In the last four meetings then in all competitions, that’s a W3 L1 head to head record for Chelsea.

Both teams have scored in just 4 of the last 11 meetings between the two clubs in all competitions.

Both Teams NOT To score in Saturday’s Final for UEFA Champions League Final betting is at a quote of 3/4* (odds recorded at 03:40 GMT on May 27th 2021 at Bet365).

Previous All-English UEFA Champions League Final Matches

2018/19 Liverpool v Tottenham

The most recent all-English clash in the UEFA Champions League Finals saw Liverpool see off Spurs in a 2-0 win.

Liverpool went ahead from the penalty spot in just the second minute and never looked like losing control. They killed off the game three minutes from time.

2007/08 Manchester United v Chelsea

This is arguably the most memorable of the two previous all-English UEFA Champions League Finals. After a 1-1 draw in Moscow, the Final went to a penalty shoot-out.

Chelsea’s John Terry slipped when taking his shot to win the shootout and hit the post. The Blues lost the shootout 6-5.

UEFA Champions League Final Predictions

Manchester City have not had things all their own way against Chelsea this season. That just adds an interesting twist to UEFA Champions League Final betting.

Also, City have won only one of their six previous European matches against English teams (L5).

But they look confident and strong enough to potentially push those things aside and grab the big prize on the weekend.

They have been unstoppable at times this season and will be fired up for this. It’s been a long wait for them to get there.

They have a tremendous W24 D4 L3 record in the last three seasons of the Champions League. In that they have scored 76 goals and have conceded 25.

City have been a different beast this season defensively and given the high-pressure of this game, a Man City to win to nil betting option is at 15/8 to consider* (odds recorded at 03:40 GMT on May 27th 2021 at Bet365).

Chelsea have their merits. But they blew their lines in the FA Cup Final against Leicester because of being wasteful in front of the goal.

Then on the final day of the Premier League season when they were under huge pressure to earn a top-four finish, more wastefulness in front of goal saw them lose at Aston Villa.

It’s just been that lack of finishing quality from Chelsea in big moments that may give full advantage to the more clinical Citizens on the night in Portugal.

We do see them sticking close to Manchester City and under 2.5 goals is at 4/6 odds* (odds recorded at 03:40 GMT on May 27th 2021 at Bet365).
