MATCHBOOK REVIEW 2021 - SPORTS BETTING REVIEW

OUR OPINIONS ABOUT MATCHBOOK

  • Peer to peer betting exchange format
  • Extensive markets throughout the exchange
  • Low margins and an operationally fast website

Online-Betting Rating:

Matchbook are a popular betting exchange. They were founded back in 2004 and they had heavy backing in 2011 when they were taken over by new investors.

They are fully committed to their ethos offering low margin, high volume betting and they regulate by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission And the UK Gambling Commission.

Betting markets and odds quality 7/10

Betting markets

We noticed when testing and browsing through the Matchbook sportsbook that there was a decent amount of options available.

There is a big focus on the major sports, horse racing, football, tennis and cricket for example.

Their non-sports betting markets are a little limited as well, with only Politics showing up of any note when we looked.

The racing section is only limited to UK and Irish racing card as well. There’s plenty of races coverage therefore, but you don’t get access to anything like form or stats.

But you weigh all that up with the fact that you are on a betting exchange and therefore you can find some good prices.

You can define your own price on a Back or Lay market and hope to get it matched so that it becomes active.

If you just wanted to stay right in the middle of the pack and go with the most popular matched price, then betting is quick and easy.

The bet slip is good, showing your unmatched and matched bets.

odds comparisons

For regular operations on the Matchbook (outside of any promotional offers) the odds that are seen on there are exchange odds.

That means you hare looking at peer-to-peer odds, which are generally stronger than regular bookmaker odds.

That is because no bookmaker margins are worked into the odds that are presented.

Instead there are commission charges on any winnings. You do not pay commission on losing bets.

On Matchbook you can calculate how much commission you will pay with the following equation:

Commission charged = (stake * odds) – stake) * commission rate.

So having the ability to shop around a little for matched odds can lead to instances where more value is extracted from exchange odds against traditional bookmakers.

Matchbook are an operator that provides changing sign up offers. A visit to the Matchbook website will allow the customer to see the latest offer focused on a current sporting event.

Always fully read the terms and conditions of any promotional offer that is being provided.

With exchange betting extremely competitive for odds value against traditional bookmaker platforms, as well as the bet variety of backing and laying, that is where the true value for punters is.

In-play betting 6/10

live in-play betting

Click the LIVE link on the menu and you will be presented with a list of action that is going on at the moment from numerous sports.

It may be a little niggle for some punters that there isn’t any way to actually filter through the different sports, you just get what you get is listed there.

There is no indication of how many active markets there are for a given event in the overview screen, you just click through to the View Full Markets links and find out what is in store there.

More often than not we didn’t find the live in play markets to be overly extensive.

The presentation of the odds is pretty clear in the section through and it’s easy to track the price changes.

One nice thing is that you get the Moneyline and Handicap options in one place and of course, you can customise your own odds on a selection of course and hope to get it matched.

It’s very basic, but it operates quickly.

Extras & features 7/10

Extras & features

The really big feature that you will find at Matchbook isn’t through any of the usual fare like live streams or cash out features, instead you have an entire Colossus section.

This is where you can make picks on select markets for a share of a huge prize fund.

For example when we tested the site, the Colossus jackpot was sitting at ten million.

The win fund will go to anyone picking a winner in every leg of the pool.

Multiple winners would obviously share the prize. For winning you get a bonuses pick on the following week’s pool. There is also a consolation fund for those who only narrowly miss out on picking out every winner.

The accessibility of the Colossus section is huge.

There are various pools running at any one time and you will be doing things like picking three correct scores or picking three 1×2 win selections, whatever they have up selected for any given pool.

There are varying prize funds out for the different pools which run and this is a great, fun feature.

The other big asset of betting with Matchbook is that they run Asian Handicap selections.

You don’t get this everywhere at online betting sites so it is a really nice touch to come across in the betting exchange.

It adds tremendous value to your football betting.

Matchbook payment options - deposit and withdrawal methods 7/10

Matchbook payment options

There are plenty of ways to get some funds into your Matchbook account.

As with any operator you have to watch for the different limits, charges and processing times involved with the different methods.

The most recommended ways are credit/debit cards and ewallets. You will, in most cases, be getting the cash back to where you go it from.

Deposit Methods Include: Visa, Mastercard, Bank Transfer, InstaDebit, Neteller, Skrill
Withdrawal Methods Include: Bank Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller

User-friendliness of website & mobile app / mobile version 7/10

User-friendliness of website & mobile app

Matchbook is available on a variety of platforms through apps. They have an app for the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Android.

You can get whichever one you need from their About Us page on their site as they have direct download links there.

Overall the website is very clean and easy to use, so there is good user friendliness across all the platforms for customers to enjoy with them. You get the same Matchbook feel whichever device you are using it on.

Matchbook Customer Service & Support, Security & Reliability 7/10

Matchbook Customer Service

You can contact Matchbook by phone at +44 203 642 6867 which is a direct line to their Account Team.

Alternatively you have the option to go and contact then via email at [email protected] or they do run a Live Chat between 9 am and 3 am GMT Monday through Sunday.

So there is plenty of good access their customer support and you can actually find a good knowledge base on the site as well, which when we tested, we found it very useful.

Our Matchbook review rating: 7 / 10

Matchbook review

There’s a lot to like about Matchbook, their Colossus section is great to go and play around with.

Overall the sportsbook may be a little bit limited for some and they are missing big features like in-depth in play stats, live streaming and a cash out option on there.

But if you like straightforward betting exchange betting, then they are a good place to go to.
