ACCRINGTON v AFC WIMBLEDON

Football – England – League Two Betting Tips

It’s advantage AFC Wimbledon as we head into the League Two Play-Off semi-final second leg as The Wombles sneaked a last-minute winner to send the home fans crazy at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, but they’ve only done half a job.

Accrington Stanley now have home advantage behind them here on Wednesday evening at their Store First Stadium where they finished up the regular season with a solid home record of  11-9-3  43/30, and experiencing just one defeat in their last 16 matches on home turf.

Accrington hold a record of  3-5-3  15/17 at home against top half opposition, and they’re unbeaten in their last four in these situations along with scoring at least once in each game against such opposition. Striker Billy Kee (17 goals) is the home side’s main threat up front.

AFC Wimbledon will have been mightily relieved to have edged ahead in this two-legged tie as they make the long trip up north from London on the back of a 1-0 win from the opening leg a few days ago.

Wimbledon secured a seventh win from their last nine matches in League Two with that last-gasp win in the first leg, and they do hold a reasonable away record of  10-8-5  34/25 on the road in this division, but their record at top half teams reads a more modest  4-4-3  16/14.

But the one factor that may go against AFC Wimbledon this evening is the fact that they’ve kept just two clean sheets in their last nine away matches, and their defence will be severely tested on Wednesday night with Accrington up for this return leg.
