Andorra Preview – Can the Andorrans keep the score low?
Minnows Andorra have lost five of their six qualifiers so far. However, they did pick up a win over San Marino in early September, which was only their second victory since March 2018. Defender Marc Vales scored both goals in a 2-0 home triumph.
Andorra were narrowly beaten by Albania in game one before suffering a 3-0 loss in Poland and a 4-1 home defeat to Hungary. Then came their memorable win before losing 4-0 to England and 2-1 to Hungary.
To their credit, Koldo Alvarez’s Tricolours have been competitive in the group, with their heaviest loss coming to England at Wembley Stadium last month. Finishing above San Marino will be Andorra’s main aim in this qualifying campaign.
England Preview – Easy win for the English?
England have been the real deal in World Cup qualifying Group I, amassing 16 points and scoring 18 goals. They still have work to do, but Gareth Southgate and his staff will already be preparing for next year’s tournament in Qatar.
England won their opening five, beating San Marino, Albania, Poland, Hungary and Andorra, scoring 17 and conceding one. They were seconds away from making it 18 points out of 18, but the Poles levelled in injury time to hold the Three Lions to a 1-1 draw in Warsaw last time out.
