Arsenal have improved drastically since the early weeks of the season. After recent results, Mikel Arteta’s men have lifted themselves into fourth spot in the Premier League table. Last time out, the Gunners thumped Leeds United 4-1 at Elland Road.

Lee Johnson’s Sunderland are sitting pretty in third position in League One right now. The Black Cats have won 13, drawn four and lost five of their opening 22 matches. Last weekend, they drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
This will be Sunderland’s fifth EFL Cup match of the season. On their way to the last 16, Johnson’s side edged past Port Vale, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic. They then beat EFL Championship high-flyers Queens Park Rangers on penalties in the last round.

Sunderland are in good form and will fancy their chances of toppling Premier League Arsenal at the Emirates. They are the massive underdogs, though, with the bookies offering 16/1 for an away win.
