Mikhail Markhel’s Belarus entertain Edoardo Reja’s Albania in a UEFA Nations League fixture on Friday night. This League C, Group 4 matchup at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk promises to be an intriguing one, as both nations look for promotion to League B. Minnows Lithuania and Kazakhstan complete the group. We have the best Nations League betting odds and predictions.

Belarus Preview – Can the White Wings start with a win?

Belarus had a poor UEFA Euro 2021 qualifying campaign, losing six of eight matches to finish fourth out of five in Group C. The Belarusians had some tough fixtures, though, with the likes of Germany, Netherlands and Northern Ireland in their group. However, four points from a possible 24 was a pretty woeful return.

However, Belarus were superb in the inaugural Nations League competition a couple of years back. The White Wings beat San Marino and Luxembourg twice and drew both matches with Moldova to win League D, Group 2 and secure promotion to League C for the 2020-21 edition.

Our betting prediction:
Albania to win 1-0
13/2

Belarus have played two friendly matches in 2020, with both games ending in narrow wins. They won 1-0 away at Uzbekistan before beating Bulgaria by the same scoreline in Sofia shortly after. Can Mikhail Markhel’s men get their Nations League campaign up and running with a home victory on Friday night?

Albania Preview – Will the Albanians leave Minsk with all three points?

Due the 2020-21 edition of the Nations League being revamped, Albania avoided relegation to the bottom tier. The Eagles had a poor inaugural tournament a couple of years ago, finishing bottom of League C, Group 1.

Albania actually kicked off the competition with a win, as Taulant Xhaka’s goal was enough to give them a 1-0 home success over Israel. However, they went on to lose 2-0 and 4-0 to Scotland as well as losing 2-0 to Israel in Beersheba.

Albania fared better in Euro 2021 qualifying, but they still missed out on qualification by a whopping ten points. The Albanians picked up four wins, suffered five defeats and drew once. Three of their victories came against minnows Moldova and Andorra, but they did beat Iceland 4-2 in a thriller in Elbasan in September last year.

Albania will be looking to perform much better in their second Nations League campaign, and Edoardo Reja’s troops would love to start with three points in Belarus this Friday.

Belarus vs Albania Betting Advice

Friday’s clash in Minsk will be the first meeting between these two countries for almost seven years. Back in 2013, the pair drew 0-0 in Turkey.

Overall, they have squared off five times, with Belarus winning two, Albania once and the other two ending in draws. This will be first competitive meeting since the Albanians won a European Championship qualifier by a goal to nil in March 2011.

Key Facts – Belarus vs Albania Betting Tip

  • Belarus have won their last two games
  • Just one of Albania’s previous 13 matches has ended in a draw
  • Albania have only beaten Belarus once

On paper, these two sides look hard to split. Home advantage could give Belarus the edge, but I fancy Albania to secure a narrow win at the Dinamo Stadium on Friday night. Put some money on the visitors to win by one goal at 7/2.
