Blackpool Preview – Can Critchley claim a first win as Pool boss?

Former Liverpool U23 manager Neil Critchley is the new man in charge at Bloomfield Road. The 41-year-old made a great impression at Anfield this season, taking over first-team duties from Jurgen Klopp on more than one occasion.

After the sacking of Simon Grayson, David Dunn did a great job of steadying the ship at Bloomfield Road, guiding the club to seven points from nine in his last three matches in charge. Critchley started life at Blackpool with a 0-0 draw with Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town last Saturday.

The Seasiders are in 13th place at the moment, 14 points away from the play-off places. Blackpool made a decent start to the season under Grayson, but they have picked up just three league wins since December.

However, the Tangerines have been solid at Bloomfield Road of late, winning three of their last four League One matches on home turf. Can Pool secure another home victory on Tuesday night?

Tranmere Rovers Preview – Another tough away test for Mellon’s men?

Micky Mellon’s Tranmere Rovers did a fine job to reach League One last term, winning the EFL League Two play-offs. However, the Merseysiders have found life tough going in the second tier so far, picking up just seven wins from 33 League One matches.

However, Rovers head to Bloomfield Road having won their last two league fixtures. Having gone 11 League One games without a win (eight defeats, three draws), Tranmere sealed a much-needed 3-2 victory at Shrewsbury Town at the end of February, which they followed up with a 2-1 success at Accrington Stanley last time out.

Since drawing 0-0 with Bristol Rovers at Prenton Park in mid-February, Tranmere have played three of four successive away league games. Six points from nine is an excellent return, but the Whites still have an awful lot of work to do in the fight for survival. At the time of writing, Tranmere are in 21st spot, six points away from safety.

Blackpool vs Tranmere Rovers Betting Advice

Those back-to-back away wins have certainly given Rovers a fighting chance, but six points is still a huge margin. Bolton Wanderers and Southend United are all but down, but Rovers will still fancy their chances of staying up. Tranmere are six points behind with two games in hand, so three points on Tuesday would be vital.

Key Facts – Blackpool vs Tranmere Rovers Betting Tip

  • The Seasiders are unbeaten in four, winning two and drawing two
  • Tranmere have won two on the spin, with both victories coming on the road
  • The pair drew 1-1 at Prenton Park in the reverse meeting

At Prenton Park back in December, Tranmere and Blackpool played out a draw. Ben Heneghan’s early goal gave Pool the lead, but Morgan Ferrier equalised two minutes before the break in the eventual 1-1 draw.

This could be another close game between the pair. Tranmere will be buoyed by their back-to-back away wins, while the Blackpool players will be hoping to make a good impression on new boss Critchley. Have a punt on another 1-1 draw between the two clubs, which you can get at the decent odds of 6/1.
