There’s more money to be made as the Brazilian Serie A rolls on on Thursday night with my next preview featuring a bottom half clash between Botafogo and Chapecoense at the Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro.
Botafogo have dropped a little down the league table to 12th place following recent back-to-back defeats to 9th placed Corinthians and Serie A league leaders, Flamengo, but it should be noted that both of these losses were inflicted on them away from home.
Back on home turf, Botafogo will be quietly confident that they can return to winning ways as they look to build upon an unbeaten start at home in their Brazilian top flight campaign, where they hold a solid home record of 3-3-0 8/4 which includes wins against Gremio, Fluminense and Atletico PR. Forward, Kieza (5 goals) looks the most likely for the hosts.
Chapecoense currently occupy 14th place on the Serie A league ladder, but have steadied the ship in recent weeks as they’ve put together a four-match unbeaten run which has kept them away from the bottom four for the time being.
A notable 2-0 home win over fourth placed Cruzeiro were followed by points against America Mineiro, Bahia and Santos in 0-0, 1-1 and 0-0 stalemates respectively, but the jury still remains undecided when it comes to Chapecoense’s form on the road.
The visitors are still without an away win this season to date as seven matches have been played without success, amidst an overall road record of 0-3-4 5/15. In addition, Chapecoense have failed to score in 4 of their 7 away matches so far.
