Bradford to continue stubborn home streak when Fleetwood visit

BRADFORD CITY v FLEETWOOD TOWN

Football – England – League One Betting Tips

Thursday evening marks the start of the League One play-offs with both first leg fixtures being played tonight. My first pick features Bradford City taking on Fleetwood Town at Valley Parade as the hosts look to continue their season-long unbeaten run at home.

It’s been an incredible achievement by Bradford to remain unbeaten on home soil throughout this League One campaign as they finished the regular season with an impressive home record of  11-12-0  36/17. However, Bradford could have been looking at automatic promotion had they not drawn so many games, along with a better away record.

Anyway, it’s just two defeats from their last 14 matches overall (which were inflicted at Scunthorpe United and promoted Sheffield United), and they come into the play-offs following five straight wins on the trot, so The Bantams have hit form at the right time. In addition, Bradford have racked up 12 clean sheets at home to date.

Visitors Fleetwood Town have continued their steady progress since joining the Football League a few seasons ago from the Conference, and they now find themselves in the League One play-offs with a chance of moving up into the Championship.

Following last season’s narrow escape from relegation down to League Two, The Cod Army have transformed themselves into promotion contenders this season as they finished the regular season in fourth spot and just four points adrift of automatically promoted Bolton Wanderers.

They head into this first leg on the back of four matches without defeat which includes wins over Peterborough United, Millwall and Gillingham. Their results away from home also improved towards the end of the regular season as they won six of their last eight on the road.

I have to hand the edge to Bradford though as they need the win this evening, and also possess one of the best defensive records in the division.
