Brighton & Hove Albion Preview – Seagulls to fly into the last 16?
Brighton & Hove Albion picked up a rare Premier League win last time out, beating Leeds United at Elland Road. An early Neal Maupay goal was enough to give the Seagulls a 1-0 victory in Yorkshire.
The three points at Elland Road was the East Sussex club’s first Premier League win since November. Overall, Graham Potter’s men have picked up just three league victories this season. Albion are down in 16th position with just 17 points to their name.
In the previous round of the FA Cup, Brighton needed penalties to see off EFL League Two outfit Newport County. Solly March’s 90th-minute goal gave Albion the lead, but an own goal from Adam Webster took the tie to penalties. Brighton went on to win 4-3 on spot kicks.
Even though Premier League survival is the main aim, the Brighton faithful will no doubt be up for a run in the FA Cup this season. The Seagulls have an excellent chance to book their spot in the last 16.
Blackpool Preview – Can the Pool shock Premier League opposition once again?
Neil Critchley’s Blackpool are currently in 16th place in League One. The Tangerines have won eight of 21 league fixtures, losing nine and drawing four of the other 13. They have picked up just one league win in their last six.
Despite their wobbly League One form, Blackpool beat Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the FA Cup a fortnight ago. After a 2-2 draw in normal time, the tie went to spot kicks. Critchley’s men went on to win 3-2 on penalties at Bloomfield Road. Prior to that, they beat Eastbourne and Harrogate in rounds one and two, respectively.

As you would expect, the third-tier team are the big underdogs in this one, with the away win available at 7/1. Nonetheless, the Pool will back themselves at the Amex.

This will be the first meeting between Brighton and Blackpool since the duo locked horns in EFL Championship action back in January 2015. Six years ago, Jamie O’Hara scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for the Lancashire side.
Key Facts – Brighton & Hove Albion vs Blackpool Betting Tip
- Brighton have won two of their last three league and cup matches
- Blackpool beat Premier League West Brom in the previous round
- This will be the first meeting between the two clubs for six years
After the hard-fought win at Leeds last time out, Brighton will be buoyed. Blackpool would love a repeat performance and result from the previous round, but the Seagulls should be too strong for the Pool at the Amex. Have a punt on Brighton to be winning at half time and full time at 11/10.
Brighton have won five times in total this season, stopping the opposition from scoring in four of those. You can get 8/5 for Albion to win to nil on Saturday.
