With just two matches of the regular A-League season remaining, Sydney FC are already assured of their place in the play-off final series as they sit top of the domestic to flight and hold a nine-point lead over 2nd placed Melbourne City prior to their trip to Brisbane.
However, Sydney’s margin at the top of the A-League should be even greater as the visitors have seemingly let their foot off the pedal and have collected just one win from their previous six matches overall, which was a 3-1 home win over Wellington Phoenix, but they’ve also been handed recent back-to-back defeats against Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City.
This is a far cry from Sydney’s earlier imperious run from early November through to the end of February where the visitors racked up a total of 12 wins from a 13-match sequence, and they’ve failed to win any of their last three away matches as well.
