It may be between two Premier League clubs but Saturday sees Burnley and Norwich clash for a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Burnley Preview – Can Burnley build on last weekend’s win to make it into Monday’s draw for the next round?

It’s been a fantastic week for Burnley who have taken a big step towards securing their Premier League safety for another year. Fears were growing at Turf Moor that a poor run of form in December, carried into the start of January, would see Burnley dragged fully into the relegation mire. Fixtures at home to Leicester and at Old Trafford to face Manchester United looked ominous in their current form.

It looked even more concerning when going down 1-0 against the Foxes only to rally in the second half and take all three points. The Clarets followed that up with an assured win against United and all looks well again as they climb a few places and sit on 30 points.

Sean Dyche can now look forward to Saturday’s home tie with Norwich and it could well be they take this game more seriously. It’s a second home time in a row for Burnley who got the better of League One outfit Peterborough 4-2 in the previous round.

We would expect to see some changes in the starting eleven but with it being at home and against a team they have already beaten comfortably at Turf Moor this season – this looks a good opportunity to move into the last-16 of the FA Cup.

Norwich Preview – Are Norwich going to put their relegation worries to the side and KO hosts?

Defeat to Tottenham in midweek means Norwich are looking really up against it in their bid to stay in the Premier League. Daniel Farke’s men are six points from safety, and whilst not completely out of it, they are going to have to pick up at least two more wins than the teams above them from here on in and that looks doubtful at best with the other teams showing their capability of picking up results unexpectedly.

It’s also a challenging run of games that the Canaries have ahead of them in the league with five of their next six all coming against teams in the top half of the table.

Whilst their struggles in the league are there for all to see, Norwich made short work of Preston North End in the previous round. Young striker Adam Idah burst on to the scene by scoring a hat-trick in that game and it will be interesting to see if Farke chooses to go with him again in this game.

A relegation battle was always likely to be on the cards for Norwich considering they spent very little in the summer. That may ensure they see the FA Cup differently to other teams who are towards the bottom of the table.

Burnley vs Norwich Betting Advice

Premier League security is clearly the priority for both of these teams. If this game was played a week ago it could well be a different approach taken by Burnley. Dyche now has some cushion and with it being a home tie he could well field a stronger team. Norwich will be more likely to make some changes. However, they themselves are not working with a huge squad.

Key Facts – Burnley vs Norwich Betting Tip

  • Burnley come into this game having beaten both Leicester and Manchester United in the past week
  • Norwich look likely to drop into the Championship but were impressive 4-1 winners against Preston in the previous round
  • It was a comfortable 2-0 win for Burnley when the sides met at Turf Moor in the league

Burnley were too good when the teams met in the league earlier this season. I’m inclined to think that will prove to be the case once again. The results against United and Leicester in the last week will boost the confidence of the Clarets and they can use that to their advantage here. Home win is the selection at Turf Moor.
