Sporting Kansas City – Tough times unrelenting in Kansas?
Another team who did us no favours last time round were Peter Vermes’ Sporting KC, downed 1-0 at home by NYRB. Though, in their defence, expectations were not not nearly as high. SKC lead the race for the prize nobody ever wants to win: the Wooden Spoon, for the team that finishes last across the entire league. They were also hosting a Red Bulls side vying for top spot in the East, so it was always likely to be tricky.
Sporting KC were also vaguely competitive last time, which was more than could be said of CF Montreal. The former denied a share of the spoils via a header from a set-play. Aside from that there wasn’t a great deal in it. But losing has become a recurring theme for this team, with that their fourth in a five-game stretch. Now, they’re back on the road, seeking to better a return of five points through ten away games (W1 D2 L7).
